Pros

Casual dress. Catering and snacks. Experience to use to find other opportunities.

Cons

Here is the truth of what you need to know about Referral Exchange (REX)... The bad reviews are taken down, a manager told someone that they paid off the bad reviewers so that they can keep a higher rating... and there were a lot of bad reviews. Realistically their rating should be A LOT lower. I worked for REX for 4 years. I started in the Sacrament office and took on another role that moved me to the SF office. The pay was very low for the location and job responsibility. I was doing multiple peoples jobs, never really having any kind of support, and never was compensated for it. When it came to end of year bonus, they waited 4 days to let people know that there were no bonuses, that we would be compensated in pay, also they told me that I was getting the max possible pay raise, but that was a bold faced lie. Their biggest problem is that they are horrible at communicating. The managers at REX are all entry level or have very little actual management experience. People are promoted on who they know (or suck up to) or seniority and not the actual management experience or knowledge of how to do the job or run the department. Managers were micromanaging employees while watching gaming videos. Doing little or next to nothing but make sure to add their name to something to get credit. There is no HR at REX. Benefits are stupid expensive. REX knows this though, its something that EVERYONE brings up every year. They don't seem to listen to anyone and if its told to them they do nothing with the information.

I am sorry that you left feeling undervalued. It sounds like you expected more compensation for the work that you did than you received. I understand that is not great. On top of that others got promoted which seemed unfair. I do hope that you had conversations about your perspective with your manager at the time. A couple of things I need to rectify: Glassdoor does not allow companies to influence the reviews, so whomever you asked probably did not know that. You can check their policy. The other statement that management does not have experience is also untrue. My boss – one of the VP’s has at least 7 years of leadership experience, I myself have also 7 years of leadership experience and my team of 4 managers have 6 – 4 – 3- 1 years of leadership experience. I’m not saying experience is super important. Ultimately it’s about how well we do for the teams we lead and we can learn and get better daily. We also have a 12-week leadership program that had 30 current and future leaders go through it and the 4th class will start in May. This will help us in our quest to get better every day. I truly hope you found a new good home. All the best, Sharon Powers – Director of Servicing and Operations.

Pros

Some of the fellow employees are cool?

Cons

- I was lied to during the interview process about what this position would entail. I specifically asked if we would be making any cold calls and they assured me that we would not. They avoided telling me the truth which is that this is 100% a call center job and that often times you are making cold calls. - I worked here for a short period of time and in that time multiple people were fired and many other people left on their own free will. I was lucky enough to find another job and leave on my own, but I have no doubt that because I wasn’t one of the managers favorites, even though I did great work and was always focused, I probably would’ve been chopped at some point too. - I heard one of the managers (won’t name names now, but if you want to know feel free to ask) say “I don’t want any old people working here.” I’ve also heard from other employees about their discriminatory practices in regards to hiring and promotions. - The “we’re so cool and different and chill” crap is dumb and I saw through it within my first few weeks of working here. They use “fun” to disguise the fact that they don’t know what they’re doing. Like oh if we give these people a free lunch and a beer maybe they’ll forget that all their coworkers are getting fired. - The managers have no idea what they’re doing! You can ask one manager one thing, and then another manager will get pissed at you for doing it wrong. Literally the TRAINING manager who teaches new employees told me to do something one way and it turns out it was completely incorrect!! Figure it out and don’t blame employees for not being perfect if you don’t even all agree on what the right way is.

Pros

easy work great colleagues management was decent ONLY if you were a favorite. Overall this job is truly just okay.

Cons

It's important to note here that many of these past reviews posted here are fake and management had certain favored employees write up 5 star reviews on Glassdoor and post it here. - the healthcare insurance options are ABYSMAL here. If you have a family and need quality insurance, stay away. -There is blatant favoritism. If you are one of the favorites, you'll do just fine and most likely love it here. If you aren't, you will be called out on tiny errors and daily work will be miserable. - People with a brain who want to do more usually move on in less than a year. Very high turnover rate.
