I have been working at Relias full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Bananas - 25 cent drinks - Fun colleagues - Unlimited Limited PTO

    Cons

    - Lack of communication and transparency from Management and ELT - Below market pay - Healthy debate, but only if you agree with the person of higher authority - Lack of initiative - Why do we only have bananas?

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. It's one thing to say that you are all about employee engagement and making this a place where people are heard and valued, but then when they come forward to talk about what's going wrong, they are told that they need to readjust their views and expectations. When I started here, it was such a great place to work, but has gone downhill since buying OCL. You need to really listen to what your...

I worked at Relias full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

New office Good people Decent benefits Unlimited PTO

    Cons

High turnover No accountability Pay below industry average Extreme favoritism which in turn gives unqualified promotions Get out while you can. Relias is experiencing a downhill spiral and all the best employees are leaving. If you are fresh out of college, this is the place for you. However, if you are looking to grow in your career professionally this is not the where you will do it. Promotions come to manager...

I have been working at Relias full-time for more than a year

    Pros

A few years ago, I realized that I needed a change and wanted to find an organization focused on creating a positive culture in the workplace. I feel fortunate that I found Relias. The people I work with are awesome. This company is full of quality people who do great work. I have a manager who supports my development and cares about me as a person. Even though I have over a decade of experience in my field, I feel...

I have been working at Relias full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The people are amazing; they work hard, have good ideas, and want to learn and grow. The atmosphere within the Support department is collaborative, fun, and positive, despite being what can be seen as a difficult or tedious position. Management works hard to treat the employees like people, and not just cogs. I sincerely enjoy coming to work and genuinely like working with my team. Relias invests in developmental opportunities...

    Cons

Relias has grown too quickly, and has not been able to work out all of the kinks of previous acquisitions and integrations. We run at 100 mph all the time, and the pace makes it difficult to keep up at times. This can lead to struggles with communication and strategy among teams, but this is a problem that exists everywhere. Still, it would be great to catch up to where we should be, get our bearings, and start the engines...

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately, the negative folks are usually the most vocal, and that's what seems to be happening on this site. People are more likely to fill out a survey or spread the word of a negative interaction than they are to share a positive one, and it is impossible to make everyone happy. Personally, I think Relias is a great place to work, and I would highly recommend it to others. Many people who disagree have not...

I have been working at Relias full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I’ve noticed an uptick in more critical reviews recently, and wanted to take a moment to write a little bit about my experience at Relias. Relias is not an easy place to work… For the past couple years “challenging” has been trending in employee surveys as a way to describe life at Relias. But if you’re up for the challenge, and really work hard, the rewards for sticking with it are absolutely worthwhile. In my...

    Cons

Relias does have a different “feel” now than it did when I first started, largely impacted from growing the team from 200 to 700+ in just a few years. Some recent departures are heavily felt; Relias is taking the time to fill those positions with the right fits.

    Advice to Management

Create clarity, over-communicate clarity, reinforce clarity.

    Advice to Management

Empower and trust your leaders, especially those at the Director levels and below. They want to be heard and are (in most cases) capable and ready to lead their teams with less management and more genuine accountability. Simplify and focus whenever possible. The core products are powerful and deserve the bulk of the resources and attention.

Are you an independent-minded, self-motivated recent college grad willing to work for less than your worth? Do you look the other way when overpromoted mediocrities make suspect decisions? Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Relias full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Relias is what it is. In certain circumstances, it's great. In others, it's not too great. Relias strives to "be a 1% -er", but they do a lotof things that are decidedly not 1% (for example, their often quoted 50% target for salaries). I think that's where a lot of the frustration comes in towards the company--it's not a 1%er; not in employee benefits (~top 25%), not in employee salary (~top 50%), not in work/life balance...

    Cons

Relias is not a good place for those who don't want to invest a lot in their work. Pay (50th percentile has some exceptions): C- Workload: D+ Messaging disconnect (the above frustrations, plus minor ones): D-

    Advice to Management

When you talk about being a 1%-er, what are you talking about? What is excluded? The image pitched by management doesn't feel like something that matches the day-to-day reality of Relias. I would recommend that management take a page from the Advantage by Patrick Lencioni, and put in the necessary work to bring everyone from all levels on board. I feel like management communication has undermined a feeling of...
