Navigating a Once-Promising Company: An Insider's Perspective on Revive

Pros

Autonomous First Culture: The company places a premium on individual autonomy, trusting its employees to take charge and execute tasks with minimal supervision. Remote Work: The company supports a fully remote work environment, providing flexibility and accommodating various work styles and life circumstances.

Cons

Questionable Culture: While the company prides itself on a rich culture, there are glaring inconsistencies. There are individuals whose actions contradict the company's stated values, and they aren't held accountable for their behavior. CEO's Dominance: The company seems to be structured around the voice and perspectives of the CEO. However, there is a lack of responsibility and accountability from the top, which trickles down to other parts of the organization. Location Bias: Even with a remote work setup, there appears to be a hiring preference for individuals based in the LA area. This not only limits diversity but also leads to unfair advantages and privileges for LA-based employees. Maturity Concerns: A significant portion of the company's workforce appears to be immature. This is evident from the nature of discussions and events that take place, many of which raise ethical and legal concerns. Conclusion: Once a promising organization, Revive now faces significant challenges that potential employees should be wary of. The lack of accountability, dominance of a single voice, and biases in hiring and treatment can make for an unsatisfactory work experience. Potential candidates might want to think twice before joining.

Pros

I can't overstate how helpful it is that Revive not only allows employees to work from home but also allows that work to be conducted with minimal intervention. I loved my coworkers for the most part, the culture is pleasant. We took a couple of trips to LA and NOLA for in-person retreats, and these were top-notch.

Cons

Revive has issues in the HR department. Their hiring and firing practices are extremely biased and poorly planned/executed. People who've given the company a year or more of dutiful service are fired suddenly with no warning, and they're cut off from company communications software as if they committed a white-collar crime. Often the reason given for these terminations will be nonexistent or related to finances, which makes no sense given the positive cash flow we've been led to believe Revive is experiencing over the last few years. After speaking to other people who've been terminated, it became clear that they use this excuse to let go of people who ask too many questions and call leadership to task for their transgressions. During my tenure, there was a noticeable absence of certain minority groups despite the total workforce reaching 50+ people. For example, there was not a single Black woman in the entire company. The bias is towards the LA-based friend group of the CEO, who is agreeable and pleasant on the surface but in reality has a cold and detached attitude towards SOME of his employees.

Pros

No pros of this company.

Cons

avoid this company at all times. Very unprofessional and the company prioritizes clients over employees. Employees come last. Was there for more than a year and quickly saw its demise and how the company started feeling more corporate. Do not work here.
