Worked my way up the ladder from a Part Time job to Manager
Pros
I would have to agree with the other review: you're around racecars every day and if you enjoy that kind of thing- you'll be happy. The 'loose' atmosphere can be fun most of the time, and being outside is also enjoyable.
Cons
The biggest challenge is that it is a former Mom & Pop business that is trying to survive in corporate America-plain and simple. There is often lines that get blurred because of that, one day there are things that are 'ok' and the next day 'thats not how we run the business...etc'. The major cons is the upper mgmt, they ask your opinion and then explain why your opinion is wrong- even though they may ask a location based question (such as what should we try in Las Vegas?, then they'll explain what that didn't work in Charlotte and that's why it wouldn't work in Vegas). The other challenge is that because it came from a family business, everyone is related or best friends since ____. That has always and WILL always cause many issues: namely trust. You can't trust that someone wouldn't share an opinion or something with a friend/co-worker/relative, this creates secrecy among its employees all over the country. Biggest con: blind faith in the upper managers. When you look at the active managers, 90% of the ones who have been there longer than 5 years eventually go away. When most of the upper level mgmt are the only ones (Mgmt wise, not sales, etc) who have been there for 5+, maybe THAT is the problem- not all of the people you have gotten rid of or who have quit to better their lives.
