Pros

Co-workers (minus management) are great to work with. Consistent hours. Long Weekends are provided as well as other benefits throughout.

Cons

The pay is average. Many times there are pep talks given to promote sales. Fear driven culture that if not producing will be fired. Leadership sells it as 'ministry' to be foundation of hard work yet ignores realities of pastors being real people. Driven to dislike people in the church because they do not like a certain product is insane. The lack of respect towards understanding churches get called a million times a day is disheartening for a 'ministry'. In interview they exaggerate what people actually make. They take the highest numbers for the best of days and claim that as the norm.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you did not have a good experience working here and while this review was posted a few years back, we want to make sure we address your concerns. RightNow Ministries is in no way under the impression that our employees are machines. We care deeply for our team and do everything we can to make this an encouraging work environment. Our view of "Work as Worship" is being faithful in the position that God has us in and being a light to those around us in the workplace. Anyone can work as worship no matter what their job title is. Our sales team does this by spreading the word about an incredible resource that impacts lives and impacts the Kingdom. We do not condone "fear driven" coaching here, we want to encourage our team to do well so we can achieve our mission. When someone applies for a job as a coordinator we are very candid about what the job entails and we would not want someone to accept a position without fully understanding the expectations because that would not be beneficial for either party. We are also very candid about the compensation. Just like the majority of sales positions, there are commission and bonus opportunities, I am sorry if this was not properly explained to you before you joined our team. Our entire goal as a ministry is to Glorify the Lord and achieve our mission to trade in the pursuit of the America dream for a world that desperately needs Christ. I am sorry your experience here was negative, we wish you luck in your future endeavors.

Pros

Hands down, the best reason to work for RightNow Media would be the people. This is something that our recruiter does really well - she somehow manages to find the best people to fill these positions. Leaving here at 4 on a Monday and 12 on a Friday are also great (but also necessary to maintain sanity).

Cons

I've been thinking for awhile on how to phrase things when speaking negatively about this company. There is a lot of negative on the sales side, and that is no secret. First off, the micromanaging has got to stop. We are all adults, and while it is an "expectation of our job to get off to a fast start" at some point you have to learn how to trust your team a little more. Know that just because someone isn't jumping straight to the phones doesn't mean that they aren't working. Second, the empty promises and dangling promotions has got to end. That is so unhealthy and honestly it's tacky. If you're going to promote someone, then promote them. Don't dangle something in front of them and keep pushing it off because you want to use them for more bookings, demos, etc. There is no trust between the employees and leadership here. No one believes that leadership actually has their best interest at heart, despite the talks of them wanting to make sure we can "provide for our families". They have the interest of the company in the front of their minds, not their employees. Take a look at what Popeye's had to do...they had to learn to focus less on the bottom line and more into their franchisees. They had to rebuild trust. We have spent time and resources producing a documentary on Popeye's and are even featuring their CEO at the conference, but do you believe in the things that you produce? Take a look at how close together these positive reviews are coming in. Notice a trend? Stop asking employees to write bogus reviews just to help our online perception. This should be a place where potential candidates can come to get a honest picture of what working for this company is like. When you are flooding the review's with positive reviews (that you have asked for) it skews that. That's one of the biggest issues with this company. You manipulate, exaggerate, and present misleading data to get the results you want. Some of us have left great jobs where we had stability to provide for our children based off of false pretenses. There are technically 4 team leads on the floor, and although it is easy to become frustrated with how they are performing most of us know it is coming from above them. Their manager pressures them with goals that causes them to behave irrationally with their teams. It's not your fault, but the heavy turnover of employees will never end if you don't start painting an honest picture of the job online, in interviews and change business practices internally.

We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy the time but our partnerships team. We have always encouraged everyone to tell their story so newcomers are able to get different perspectives of what its like to work with the team at RightNow Media. We’re also very intentional about making sure anyone who joins the team gets a chance to see what its like firsthand to serve the Church. Our Partnerships Team is committed to helping people develop. Too often companies just throw people into the deep end and they are left to try and make it on their own. Which is why we have 8 Team Leaders for our Partnerships Team who are committed to helping people develop. That starts from day one when we have our team go through the Ideal Team Player Series that we created with NY Times Bestselling Author, Patrick Lencioni. We continue that by trying to spend some time each week offering advice on how you can advance the mission and better take care of your family by improving performance. Promotions at RightNow Media are real for those that have the work ethic, experience and attitude to help us advance the mission. Just this Monday in our Partnerships Team meeting we were able to celebrate the growth of the team by recognizing over a dozen people who have been asked to take on new positions recently. Its one of the highlights when we’re able to reward people who have the hunger to advance the mission and that is seen in their performance and their attitude. And we’re extremely committed to our families. We love families and go above and beyond to support families in several ways. For one we have family friendly hours. For those that spend their time in the office, we’re not working nights or weekends. When we’re here we’re focused on the mission and when we go home we’re encouraging people to be full present with their family. For those that have to travel we award Comp Time that allows them to catch up on time with their families for the time they spent away. In addition to that we financially go above and beyond to support growing families. Which is why in addition to the over $1,000 we contribute to health savings accounts (for families on our medical plan) we also reimburse the first $3,000 in hospital bills when you have new additions to your family or if you feel led to adopt. The bottom line is our mission is to serve the Church and advance the kingdom of God. Our intention is to develop talented Christ followers to help them advance the mission and hopefully grow in their careers if they are able to put in the work and have the drive to get there. We’re sorry you didn’t enjoy the time here but wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Pros

The tenured employees (5+ years) on the sales side are all supportive and have been through what you've been through and can give you the best insight on how to handle yourself while making cold calls. Essentially, it's the people that make this ministry such a family and such a blessing to be a part of. As mentioned by others, you also get certain benefits such as an allowance to go to a marriage conference or to go on an overseas mission trip and they also offer adoption assistance. Team lunches are a welcomed change and competitions create some excitement during those monotonous weeks.

Cons

If you accept a sales coordinating position, you accept the work description of a Coordinator which is cold calling secretaries and pleading with them to let you talk to a decision maker. This is hard and this will test your patience and your work ethic. If you work hard and don't take things personally, you will be fine. But again, don't take things personally and don't view your pastors as pastors but as potential customers. Your work will be viewed and communicated to you from management as the most important call to go across a pastors desk and that just simply isn't the case. Pastors are people, too. You are told to view your work as worship which if realistically approached, can be done. Once you're there past your 90 days, you will see that work as worship means to constantly put up numbers or get coached and face your position getting thrown to someone else who is on a hot streak. All in all, it is a form of manipulation that they can use and you're not allowed to question it. The scheduling is very militant, which, you get a half day Friday to make up for it. Medical Insurance is very very lackluster. I opted to get a plan on the marketplace due to the high cost of the coverage and lack of benefits through it. There is a 90 day waiting period (where, you're not expected to reach) for benefits (PTO, namely) and a one year waiting period for the other miscellaneous benefits. Moving up in the company is possible if starting at the ground level but be prepared to tell management what they want to hear and not necessarily what they need to hear.

Thank you for your feedback! I am sorry that you weren't pleased during your time working for RightNow. I would love to address some of your concerns. You mentioned leadership expects that this will be the most important call a pastor receives, if this was the impression you got from our sales process you were mistaken. We respect that pastors have a lot going on and we truly care about the mission of the church. Everything we do here is focused on coming along side the church and achieving our mission which is "trading in the pursuit of the American dream for a world that desperately needs Christ". Part of doing that is spreading the word about RightNow Media as we have seen this resource truly benefit churches and ultimately change lives. Work as Worship is by no means a manipulative phrase used by leadership, it is in fact using our roles here to glorify our Lord and Savior. With any job there will be goals and expectations to be met, in order for us to stay in business and achieve our mission we have to meet those expectations but more importantly in order to "Work as Worship" we must be faithful in the position that God has us in. The leadership team here is responsible for helping the coordinators achieve those goals. You mention a "militant schedule", I'm sorry that you were not pleased with the hours here but we have found that for most people our schedule is a blessing. We work Monday from 8-4. Tuesday-Thursday 8-6 and Friday 8-12. Personally, I love being home with my family in the evenings, being off on Friday afternoons and I especially love having the entire weekend off. Finally, we truly truly care about our team here. We love encouraging our team with fun games, music, competitions, free lunches, scholarships for mission trips, retreats, paid time off for all holidays, family friendly hours, and whatever else can offer as a non profit to make this an incredible place to work. Again, I am sorry you had a negative experience working here. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
