Involved superintendent. Obviously your experience varies depending on your admin. Lots of diversity in the students we serve and opportunities for growth.

Cons

Education is a demanding field with little to no thanks. But this is true everywhere.

Pros

Great sense of community and collaboration. The district develops and implements their own curriculum and pacing so it removes a lot of the planning hassle for teachers.

Cons

It is imperative that teachers abide by district plans, leaving little to no room for autonomy in the classroom. You will be reprimanded if you don’t stick to the instructional resources and learning materials they have chosen for you. This includes units of study(Lucy Calkins) for literacy which is common core, NOT TEKS based and that creates a lot of frustration among educators.
