Pros

Lab technicians are very knowledgeable, and very willing to help in anyway they can, which is great because they train the incoming employees.

Cons

Management is the downfall of this company. They pile the work on the lab technicians, including training new hires, to the point where the employees cannot keep up with their testing or management would spring something new on the lab technicians at the end of the day, making it to where the employees can never catch up with their work. In the past when I worked there, there was only one person in management that was tolerable, the others were just scared to communicate anything or they tried to intimidate you. Lets just say I am thankful to be a former employee and working at another company, with people who enjoy their jobs.

Pros

10 hours and 40 minutes of PTO earned per month, option to work alternating half Fridays (0730-1730 M-TH, 0730-1130 F), 2-15 minute breaks if you aren’t too stressed to take them

Cons

Unrealistic and unbalanced work loads for lab employees. No room for advancement and very low chance of getting any type of raise. Workload often exceeds 40 hours a week, especially during the first two weeks of the month, but the owner / management has a new, ridiculous policy of no overtime without written approval, after the owner tried to tell employees that if they worked unauthorized over time, they weren’t going to be paid (ILLEGAL). No recognition of the hard work the lab workers put in to bring the company money, while the engineers and hydro geology departments are paid so much more money and do so much less work for the company. Management is increasing inflexible and only ever gives negative feedback, while ignoring the employees that are thriving in their responsibilities. ALL THE GOOD REVIEWS ON HERE ARE WRITTEN BY UPPER MANAGEMENT.

Pros

The company is a great way to gain experience in the laboratory field. It has a lot of quality staff. The PTO is good and it doesn’t go away. Laboratory management genuinely cares about and sticks up for employees.

Cons

The pay is not good. They do not give raises as far as I’ve heard. Upper management doesn’t understand the laboratory. It refuses to acknowledge the obvious problem: the lab is highly understaffed. This has recently become a vicious cycle of people leaving the company, causing others to gain work load, causing more people to leave, etc. In addition, this has occurred alongside an increase in the number of clients, and, therefore, samples. The lab is being set up for failure. Employees are expected to meet a two week turnaround time, but get berated for accruing overtime (as if they WANT to spend any more than 8 hours a day in that hole with no windows). In fact, the employees were told that any unapproved overtime would not be paid. The lab brings in the most money; however, they are the ones who suffer the most from upper management’s tight pockets. I was told that the ridiculous overtime forms even have a section that asks what “project or budget is to be charged” in order to pay an employee what they’ve earned.
