Worst job ever

Pros

Knowledgeable about Australia property market and regulations

Cons

Worst career decision ever to join this company and an absolute waste of time. No career development, peanut pay and management expects you to do a whole lot. Very limited sales leads and most leads are from rejects/namecards from eons ago and you will be asked to follow up/do cold calls on them. You will have to look for your own leads by going for networking sessions (at your time and expense), and even approach for family/friends/ex-colleagues to invest which further strains personal relationships. Company has extremely tight budget/cash flow issues and does not pay salary and sales commission on time. It is very common when commissions are owed and delayed for several months. Company policies changes as and when they feel like it and commission structure keeps changing frequently in favour of the company. They used to employ several young ex-bankers/accountants and professionals from other large corporations but 99% of them had left as they found that this job was not sustainable and it ruined their bright career. Most joined as they thought they could earn way more compared to their corp jobs (as they are relatively green) and they were attracted by the commission or more 'prestigious' title like Portfolio Consultant as compared to property agent out there, but come to learn about the ugly truth. The remaining staffs who remained in the company (>2 years) are purely delusional or have no other options as their careers had already been ruined and returning to their corporate job means that they have to start from the bottom all over again. The company had recently opened a few new subsidiaries and boutique development company overseas and it 'looks well and impressive' online but it is all a front. You can join the company if you want to learn the true definition of a 'crappy job'.

Payment & Inconsistency issues

Pros

Good insight into the Australian property market and investment techniques. Given that it is a small company, there is some opportunity to take on roles/responsibilities despite limited previous experience. There were good and capable employees but have also since left the company.

Cons

Policies, structures and strategies change very frequently-thereby also limiting career growth. New ideas, views and suggestions are seldom taken into consideration despite being asked for. Salaries and all its associated payments are constantly delayed with the need to constantly chase Finance/HR for it. Very high employee turnover rate.
