A company like family

Pros

As someone's first job, I find that this company offers a flexible environment with the ability to work from home or come into the office or both, our boss has organically grown the company with amazing talents and opportunities. The company focuses on the Military and Veterans health sector and is an amazing way to gain experience. Some of the things I love most, about this company are: *Exposure to different project areas *Company has genuine emphasis on safe space for employees * Company provides regular communication, listens to and encourages new ideas, continually encouraging growth personally and professionally *Serve isn't just a bunch of random people that are co-workers but encompasses a family dynamic No company has it all figured out, especially when starting out, but the fact that SERVE embodies a culture focusing on their employees means a lot. I catch myself being very thankful for being part of the SERVE family and giving me the opportunity to explore and grow.

Cons

As a growing company, there will obviously be a lot of turnovers such as updating technology, keeping up with procedures, handling difficult clients. Things are always evolving, and it's very important to remember the bigger picture. As a growing company there are hurdles however, we also define the future with the role we play.

Just what I needed

Pros

As a small firm, your career here is really whatever you want to make of it. Leadership is easily accessible and invested in each individual's career. It does stand out as a boutique firm as I was able to increase my salary by almost 18% by making a lateral move to join. Subsequent raises were at 10% for a title change and 5% for a level change. This was never a possibility at the bigger firm I previously worked at. Benefits are amazing considering the size of the company. For comparison, my husband works at a company 10x the size of SERVE and we have the same healthcare options. Perhaps my favorite part of belonging to SERVE has been its obviously diverse team, which makes me feel right at home. Work/life balance has been wonderful. Senior management is understanding and invested in their folks.

Cons

It is a boutique, small firm, so there are not always several contracts to choose from when being staffed.
