Pros

The business model is great for clients that are willing to receive their free evaluation of the services.

Cons

The ramp up time for the franchise to become profitable I found to be much longer than anticipated/advertised.

Pros

ability to own a business

Cons

They do not share that you need significant capital on top of the initial franchise fee to survive while starting your business. They give you a sales pitch that you will make a tremendous amount of money your first year.

Pros

Good co-workers You get a paycheque-but no benefits

Cons

Beware. The atmosphere here is one of pettiness and false good cheer, with managers who will do anything to advance their sad careers. They also hire you and not tell you until your first day that you are expected to attend "mixers" in the evening during weeks when they are trying to impress possible new franchisees. The building is in poor repair, apart from the fact that there are no windows, which only serves to make the atmosphere even more depressing. Oddly, there is no lunch room, so you are reduced to eating at your desk or going out to eat, either that or eating in your car. It seems like people who are doing perfectly fine are let go out of the blue. At that point, the management calls a meeting to trash talk the former employee, giving a reason why they were fired without the employee, who is by then out of the building, getting a chance to explain their side of the story. There is nothing to recommend about this place. Don't do it, or if you're forced to do it out of short term economic necessity, find something else as soon as possible.

Schooley Mitchell Response

Thank you for extending us the opportunity to respond to this review of our workplace. You’re right in saying you have good co-workers – we’re very proud of the team we’ve assembled and consider ourselves fortunate to have tremendously dedicated and talented employees. Be assured our cheer is not false. We are passionate about what we do. We are troubled to hear of your disappointment in our facilities. Our space is well utilized and though we aren’t able to offer a dedicated lunch room, staff are welcome to use our multiple board rooms to eat or take a break at any time, as long as they are not in use. We also have an outdoor seating area with picnic tables, umbrellas and a small vegetable garden for staff use in the warmer months. Windows in the building are plentiful, but as with many offices, not all staff members are able to sit adjacent to one. We are proud of our staff, and that is why we invite visitors to join us once a month to learn more about our great business and most importantly, meet the people who make it so. Our mixer reflects our corporate culture and is embraced by staff, who enjoy not only mingling with our visitors but each other as well, over drinks and food. There is no cost to staff, who simply get to enjoy a night out on us one per month. We have many long-term employees who have been with us for many years. Your review indicates you are a current employee – if you are dissatisfied, we would strongly encourage you to reach out to the appropriate member of management. Our management team has an open-door policy, and you are welcome to discuss your concerns at any time.
