Pros
If Engineering porn is what you are looking for then this is the place. The huge diversity of projects keeps the mind wanting more. Diversity - I was very happy to be working in a place that had a nickname of the United Nations. All employees are responsible to ensure that people of all backgrounds are supported. I, like many others took it upon myself to welcome new starters from different backgrounds and cultures by socially engaging outside of work to help settle them and their families. Management provided active support for visiting overseas division employees to be welcomed and shown around the scenic attractions. My time with Scott was filled with satisfaction and then sadness when leaving. The workplace was surrounded by great people from the Workshop, Engineers, Projects, Service, Accounts, Admin, Managers.
Cons
Some of the industries are in cold storage or process rooms. If you can't handle the cold you will freeze your brain and extremities. Management micro-management is considered by some as distracting. However, I had the perspective that m-m is avoided if accurate & concise information is provided on cue. I.e. Being on the pulse will put management at ease... at will. Full workloads are common - more time to drive in-house improvement programs should be provided. Employee satisfaction skyrockets when the opportunity is provided to influence better outcomes.
