Pros

Standard expected working hours. Small company feel with nice staff. Decent pay. Easy freeway access. Close enough to downtown CLE.

Cons

Scottcare is a great company to work for if you are the type of person that would like to steadily add more tasks and have the workload of 4+ positions. It can be a great learning tool to take with you when you go. It is a classic small and very 80's minded and driven workplace with terrible moral aside from its service department. It is quite hard to believe that it is a health or technology operation. The average salary is just that, average but the health care is appalling. If you have a spouse and can take advantage of their health plan it is the way to go. It appears that many of the employees are sub-par and hired due to willingness to work for low to average pay where if more knowledgeable staff members were hired at proper rates the company would not require as much overhead. Whilst it sounds good to hire within, this company does so even when the promoted employee is not equipped to handle the position but rather fits the budget. Management could strictly use an interchanging of more knowledgeable members that are not only more skilled in their own managed departments, nonetheless contain a better knowledge for the other departments as well since they should be working together. Timeframes and deadlines within the company are something to be laughed at. They are designed by uninformed and dated managers, consequently these deadlines change at the drop of a dime with or without plausible reason. Releases do not go out on time due to being drastically under staffed and far too many changes being made by poor decision makers. The team was revoked usage of earned vacation days due to its outdated product release which decreased moral yet even lower. The facility looks like the company operates, archaic and poor, not to mention always filthy. The restrooms are constantly out of order and we are forced to walk next door to use a neighboring facility or as e-announced “You may go to McDonalds” – Ghee thanks. The parking spaces were remarked some time ago to allow for more parking by making them wide enough for a small sedan. Thank you for the ding marks in my door, maybe I can leave my car parked at McDonalds next time. The facility has very limited office space / seating such that offices are shared and cubicles are tight. Working from home is not an option even though 100% of many job functions could be performed anywhere else and this is firmly believed by its employees that this is only due to the fact that management does not understand the capabilities of remote access and completed work speaks for itself.

Many good coworkers, but the culture needs to change.

Pros

There are a dedicated handful of individuals that work at ScottCare who make the idea of coming to work there every day acceptable. These same people may be the reason ScottCare continues to operate at this point and by far the BEST reason to feel compelled to come in day after day.

Cons

Most all of the cons listed in other reviews are legitimate. The biggest con of ScottCare management is that they are not listening to their employees and former employees about any of these issues and actively addressing them. Things like better pay. Better facilities. Better treatment of employees. Far better benefits and more vacation time across the board. Better, competent people in management and really across the whole company in certain spots. Setting realistic deadlines and expectations, and so on. On top of those things, a con about working at ScottCare that is not being addressed is the company’s overall culture. In general, there seems to be little, if any, attempts to create a more positive, creative, generous, thoughtful, sensible, logical, fair-minded, respectful culture at ScottCare. Many people are treated poorly, disrespected, marginalized, ignored, and absolutely taken for granted every day. And after each departure of yet another employee, we sit back and still have a glimmer of hope that maybe this time, things will turn around. However, the ultimate result is a crushing micromanaging, overcompensating, flurry of poor decisions, helicopter-management style that really only serves to compound the loss. This makes life absolutely impossible for the employees that remain and only serves to demotivate people further who were doing their best, regardless of the circumstances, poor working conditions, and below-average compensation for the jobs they continue to do faithfully well. The morale of ScottCare employees continues to decline and it is no wonder, at least to the employees, why that is. The horror stories behind what has become a long list of former employees only underlines the huge culture problem at the company currently. Management at ScottCare expects that its employees take ownership of their work and mistakes, which is great, but THEY do not take ownership of their responsibilities, failings, and shortcomings as managers – like continuously losing fantastic employees. Employees that kept the trains running on time, who were honest and hardworking, and did the work of 10 with all the insurmountable pressure that comes with it. Instead of trying to keep these employees (and all other employees just like them) happy, treating them respectfully, and paying them what they’re really worth, ScottCare does the exact opposite in pushing them away, disrespecting them, and making the assumption that they pay their employees really well. And when they eventually leave, ScottCare doesn’t replace them with comparable people if they even replace them at all and makes the assumption that their leaving has nothing to do with the company and its culture. If ScottCare cared to listen to them, these people would probably sit down upon dropping their notice and explain to management that “It’s not us, ScottCare. It’s you.”

Pros

The pros of working at ScottCare: 1. The number one pro of ScottCare is the coworkers and family feel. There are a handful of rockstar employees that somehow keep this company chugging along. If you happen to be a person that knows how to get stuff done then we need more people like that. 2. Great place to grow beyond your initial job responsibilities and get experience in many different areas. Being a small company it's easy to get involved with all aspects of a release. 3. Every year I've been here the company has improved its culture and has been doing a much better job of operating professionally. However, there still remains much room for improvement.

Cons

The cons of working at ScottCare: 1. Incompetence - I don't think ScottCare has ever fired an employee for blatantly not knowing how to do their job and there are a few in key positions that need constant hand holding by many of us to keep the company moving forward. Many complaints have been made to management with no action taken. 2. Not enough people - For the amount of work on our plates we don't have the manpower to handle it. We've had many people over the years get burnt out and leave as is evident by the rest of the reviews on here. Also when people leave the positions can go months or years without being replaced and these are often important positions that play a key role in the company functioning properly. 3. As a company we seem to waste most of our money making mistakes. Whether its employing the incompetent that cost us money and productive time, hiring overpriced contractors that do shotty work, or having to scrap projects/products/materials. 4. Deadlines - The deadlines at ScottCare tend to be unrealistic, half thought out, and can change at any moment. One day it's "get it done by Friday" and the next day it becomes "we need this done tomorrow". Dealing with ScottCare deadlines can be extremely stressful when you're not sure when the it will change and the constant pressure only ensures more mistakes will be made in order to meet the new aggressive deadline. These aggressive deadlines ultimately only lead to additional work when mistakes need to be addressed later on.
