Pros

Work when I want Get paid daily I don't have to deal with customers or phones I can work anywhere as long as I have internet and a computer There has been a lot of work lately (Thank you for Scribie) You get a $5 bonus at the end of the month for every 30 files you complete that month

Cons

The pay sucks. You have to do a good 50 transcripts per day just to make $25. Once you are promoted to a Proofreader the pay increases per file but it is next to impossible to remain in that position. They give proofreaders and QCs the better pay when the transcriptionist and reviewers do most of the work and get paid a measley $0.50 per file. Its really not fair. The bonus used to be $10 and the pay for each transcript was $1. Why they lowered it, who knows. Most of the audio files are hard to hear and understand due to heavy accents and audio quality.

Pros

flexibility, able to work from home. able to choose assignments to work on

Cons

low pay, the ocassional bad quality file, or files with lots of foreign language in the middle (you only realised it after you work half way through the file). also, beware the terrible reviewers. got one today who deleted whole chunks of my transcribed words, and pasted them back much lower... made it look like i omitted whole sentences though i certainly did not. reviewers suck. they seem more interested in correcting the grammar, rather than ensuring accuracy in the speech (instructions to transcribers were to be accurate, and write down even the spoken grammatical errors). i suspect this led to the low grading i got today, because i was trying to be accurate rather than correcting grammatical errors. very annoyed, filled dispute form.

Pros

Working at home/remotely is alright, but also offered at other transcription companies.

Cons

Reject files with minimal errors, have inconsistent grading, have some of the worst pay for transcription, but the most scrutinizing proofreading. Pretty much a scam to be honest.
