I met some really good people. It was also a nice working environment. The Christmas party was fun.
Cons
Bad company culture, no formal training, false promises of six figure income, profit goes straight to senior management and ownership. A lot of times it felt like management thought that employees were enemies of the company.

We appreciate the feedback given and are always looking for ways to improve our company culture. Our training program has definitely evolved and we think it has improved immensely just in the last 12 months, however, as with anything there is always room for improvement and we are striving weekly for this. We have already implemented change in this area and every new employee now spends the first 2-3 weeks in dedicated classroom and live training on internal systems and processes regardless of their role in the company. We have received great feedback from this in recent months and will continue to build on this success.
Monthly base of $2800 per month. We were living on food stamps to buy groceries for our kids. They're very protective of their home prices and it was very hard to push sales through due to higher prices than all the competition around us. It's easy for the people higher on the totem pole with cushy salaries to forget what it's like to work so many hours for such meager earnings. There needs to be major changes in the industry. This business really only caters to the company and not its sales people who provide the means for the salary employees.

At Sedgewick Homes we have a very thorough and detailed hiring process with communication about the compensation package including commissions. Our sales positions are not different from other sales roles and are compensated based on a tiered sale structure. It is always disappointing when we have staff that are unable to be successful in this industry and unfortunately some are not able to assess and explain the myriad of differences between us and other builders. Reviewing builders pricing and assessing the differences definitely takes time to build expertise in and we do our very best to assist with that with the necessary resources and more than 50 years of combined experience of our management team. We appreciate the feedback and are always willing to be introspective to provide an encouraging, successful work environment for all of our employees.
The ability to be involved with helping someone bring their vision to life is a very rewarding experience. I enjoy working with people and building relationships with customers through the process. I have no complaints with the “product”, from a sales perspective it is relatively easy to “sell” a home.
Cons
Not going to elaborate on my personal experience. But, I will say that the major con is that you can easily contribute a year of service to this company before realizing that it is not worth the effort or pay. The company does not value employee feedback nor is it open to change/improvement. Leadership is very arrogant.

As always, we value feedback and continue to assess our company to provide an exceptional workplace for individuals dedicated to lifelong success. This review is unfortunate due to the fact that we have an internal process called “Opportunity For Improvement” (OFI) and in 4 years we have received over 700 OFI’s of which 99% have been implemented. Every employee, including the reviewer, is shown this system. It is so important to us that we have an OFI meeting every 3 weeks and it is mandatory for all new employees to attend the next available meeting after their hire date. To any candidates reading this review we can only hope that you can understand when we express our disappointment that someone would use this forum to call our integrity into question and call for transparency yet they accuse anonymously. We have not coerced any employees to post reviews or given “canned” responses to anyone, period.
