Pros

Central London location in Shoreditch Flexible working including WFH policy.

Cons

You may have noticed that there hasn't been any new reviews on Seenit for over a year this is simply because from a company that started (when i joined) at 35, has now diminished to under 21 (and still falling) in just under a year. There is a huge list of cons including: * The company itself has no long-term business strategy. * Each new 'feature' is never fully completed. It's left half finished because of the number of priority changes. (This is understandable for a 'start-up' however this is nearly every single feature) * There is an enormous amount of 'hacks' which has led the company to start from scratch and architect the entire system (this is only 5 years old). * The board and senior management have put no emphasis in to the 'technology' side of the business, instead this is focused on selling - essentially a platform that is never changing or iterating. * The mobile apps have no app support i.e. there is no mobile team and the businesses 'plan' is to hire 'offshore development' which has been in 'discussions' for over 8 months. * Senior staff take on way too much responsibility, can't prioritise and end up running around like headless chickens whilst day to day staff have pretty much nothing to do - since there isn't much tech development. * There are concerns raised frequently by staff but senior management refuse to change / invest in the right areas of the business. This includes not taking leavers seriously - not even trying to understand the reasoning why people are leaving and seeking other employment. * Constant back and forth with decisions even down to HR level. This includes mentioning a paternity leave which is equal to maternity and a few weeks later revising the entire statement after it was announced (it is now back to the minimum 2 weeks). * No career development plan unless you're happy to take on other things that aren't part of your job role. Although you may find yourself shooting yourself in the foot by picking up the wrong set of skill set if you choose to move on further down the line i.e. if you're an engineer do you really want HR skills as part of your development? * Toxic work environment as there is no discipline for staff because there is no HR. You may think you're too old for high school but think again if you decide to join Seenit. Also just as a side note - if you do decide to move on to another job after working for Seenit. Prepare for senior management to 'ghost you' i.e. not been invited to future meetings, no exit interview, and you can forget about a proper leaving celebration for your work because the bitterness for your 'betrayal' will overshadow the work you've put in by being an employee.

Seenit Response

Thank you for your response, I am sorry that you had a difficult experience in the company, we certainly went through a tough time where certain areas such as proper exit interviews and gathering regular anonymous feedback slipped which I know is unacceptable. We have now corrected this as a real priority with open door sessions and regular pulse surveys so myself and the leadership team can make sure we’re receiving the regular information and feedback needed to make constant improvements. We have also put in place a new operational structure so the strategy is clear across the business with visible goals which we can regularly report on. These responsibilities are split and driven across the whole team not just the leadership. I am fully aware of the difficulties around tech features being released and we have been making the necessary changes to correct this over the last few months. I am pleased that you felt the WFH policy made a difference, I have certainly felt that having this flexibility is helping with peoples commute times & work / life balance. I do also want to correct the statement about maternity & paternity as this isn’t correct and we do have a policy for both in place. If you did want to email / have coffee and share any more feedback please do. Emily

Pros

The most nurturing community of people. Joining as an intern, all areas of the company -tech, product, & commercial - were willing to share their insight & help me grow my career. This continues to now as I had to make sure I had a full-time role at Seenit!

Cons

I always talk about Seenit & my pals kinda of have had enough of it!

Pros

Culture * People, people, people! One of the things the management team has definitely done right is hiring. The team here is welcoming, and everyone is exceptional * Lil Bits: a tradition brought onboard by an employee where we give personal shout outs to someone else in the team for something they've done that week * Monthly social, we do pretty fun things like karaoke, mini golf... * Gender balance: 58% women! Benefit * Fruit delivered to the office every week * Work from home policy 1 to 2 days a week (since last year) * Additional holidays days per year of service (since last year) Management * Great managers who will listen to you and have your back * Regular 1:1s and annual reviews to understand career ambitions and goals, and try to align with them Career * As in any small business, you can easily learn loads by being proactive but it can also get overwhelming if you are not used to the pace

Cons

* Prioritisation is still a big one. We are still pretty customer centric but it is evolving further as we become more data driven * Culture and structure is something that wasn't really set, and therefore had a negative impact on process and people as we grew. A lot of effort has now been invested to improve transparency, implement processes so that people are held accountable, and have roles and responsibilities clearly defined * The management team doesn't always have the right experience, but they've made some tough decisions in the past 12 months. They definitely try their best and have shown things can change and improve

Thank you for taking the time to write a response, I am pleased to hear that you feel management has your back and that they are prepared to make some tough decisions, also that they have invested in further transparency and more communication. I couldn't agree more that it is the people at Seenit who truly make it, they are talented, driven and resilient. I also agree that not enough operational structure was put in place around culture and HR as we grew which meant there were challenges as we scaled, I now know how important it is to get this in as early as possible. We are rolling out more processes and frameworks which should rectify this, but as always your feedback on this is so helpful to continue to shape it. These should also be helping people to prioritise too. If there is any more you would like to share I will always make time, I now have monthly open doors and we also have our regular pulse survey. Thank you again Emily
