Pros

I really enjoy the mentorship and guidance from management, interesting projects to add to a product I really believe in. Ok salary made up for by share program, 100% remote/WFH and great benefits.

Cons

No office, 100% virtual company, some times I miss going into a office and having social face to face time with work colleagues.

Pros

Was hired at a great salary Great employees, great benefits Ample training

Cons

I felt like I was being watched on virtual office "qube" and had to appear online at all times, this was difficult when working east coast hours with a predominately west coast office. I was hired full-time with great benefits, including ample money to purchase office equipment, and a sign-on bonus, but I was laid off after a few months. Senior Leadership had plans to bulk up staff ahead of projected growth, but after that growth did not materialize in the first half of the year there was staff reduction. I know these things happen, but I don't think senior leadership planned appropriately for this. Why hire 60 people and lay them off within months, especially when sales were down, not sure why this affected so many other departments.

This year we found ourselves – like many tech companies – needing to adapt to new market priorities by reducing our team size. As we discussed with the team at the time, the change in the overall startup / venture capital environment was the primary driver of that shift. It was difficult to let some of our valued team members go as part of a reduction in force. Our goal was to do so with compassion, support and respect for the dignity of each individual who was impacted. With our diverse team members located coast-to-coast in North America as well as in 21 countries around the world, we designed our Qube virtual workspace to help us feel more connected and collaborative. We are truly saddened to hear that you felt like you were being watched as that has never been our intent or practice. We believe that the future is bright despite the challenges of 2022 and we will continue to strive to be one of the best places to work in the software industry.

Pros

Work with extremely smart and competent people that always get the work done. There are a lot of people 'from industry' that have an incredible amount of valuable knowledge and experience. Customers LOVE the product. The technology really is awesome at what it does. If you're the type of person that likes working from home, then this is a great place for you. Open PTO policy that people actually use (not uncommon for people to take 2-3 week vacations). Truly a 'get your work done' mentality. As long as you are doing your job, no one cares when or how. Need to run errands, pick your kids up from school, or go for a bike ride/hike at noon? Sounds good. Just get your work done. Pays for remote work expenses including 175 / month for phone/internet, initial 5k workplace expenses for computer, tablets, motitors, phones, desks, etc. (unclear if this is going away with recent company shift). Was skeptical about Qube at first, but being able to check in with people, and have the virtual office atmosphere really is cool. Stock options. Very transparent leadership, for better or worse.

Cons

Headed into most difficult time as a company. Company is going through the same thing many start-ups are. 'Grow at all costs' is becoming 'must become profitable asap'. Recent economic headwinds combined with recent difficulties to bring in new business have led to the largest lay-off to date for Seeq, reduction in some benefits, and general uncertainty headed forward. Typical start-up headaches. Lack of processes in some situations. Many ways to go about doing things. Onboarding/support isn't well developed for all roles, sometimes unclear what to do, who to go to, whose responsibility something is. Coworkers are generally willing to help though. Not a very strong sense of 'team'. I've worked places where my coworkers felt like a strong, tight-knit family. Seeq is not one of them. In general, there is a fair amount of everyone doing their own thing. I don't think there is a lot of pride in being a Seeq-er, and generally, the culture is not the strongest. That being said, the culture is not toxic or negative in my experience. There's just a lack of belonging and camaraderie. The general vibe of Seeq is a bit serious and at times, lonely.

Seeq was founded in 2013 as a remote-first workplace. Over the last 9 years we feel we have shown that a remote company can be as culturally strong as an in-person company, even being named to Inc. Magazine's list of best workplaces for 2022. We know that what worked for Seeq as a 20 person company will not work for Seeq as a 200 or 2000 person company and have worked hard to adapt our traditions while keeping true to our principles. It truly saddens us that you did not feel the strong sense of team that so many Seeqers feel. Seeq's employees and leadership are proud of what we've built, and as a member of our community we will take your comments and incorporate them as we nurture our growing community of employees and customers.
