Pros

Midvale location- the people are amazing, and the facility is beautiful

Cons

The pay is less than acceptable for how much work/ stress comes with the position. No overtime is offered, and even at 40hours a week still isn’t enough to survive. The reception manager only makes $13hourly, you would never get more than that. There is no room for growth. Very understaffed, and management would rather work the current employees to the point of hating the company rather than hire help, and when they do, it’s high school girls who are clueless and have no work ethic. Management does not allow sick days, or calling in for emergencies, if you can’t find coverage you have to be there or else you are fired. Especially hard for students who are trying to get a degree. No wonder the turnover rate is so high. Poor receptionists get treated horrible. All management is new so they still don’t have a firm grasp on the job.

Pros

Flexible schedule, spa is closed on Sundays and major holidays, majority of the staff is very friendly, easy for receptionists that are in school for esthetics or massage or that are already licensed to transition to working as a service provider. Job itself is fairly easy.

Cons

TERRIBLE management, no accountability, lots of gossiping and favoritism. Rat infestation, alcohol problem, toxic environment, high turnover. Low clientele, the majority of guests are loyalists who refuse to see anyone but their preferred esthetician/massage therapist. Receptionists have too much responsibility and aren't payed enough. They have all of the typical receptionist duties, but are also responsible for all of the deep cleaning in the spa, opening/shutting down treatment rooms, and doing laundry.

Pros

Beautiful spa, peaceful work environment, lovely clients, stays busy most of the time. Great manager.

Cons

Employees are $$$, not human beings. There is no sick policy, even unpaid sick time. If you are sick or injured and can't find coverage for your shift they expect you to work sick or injured or feel that your job is threatened. There is no understanding if an employee has a sick family member or child. People come to work sick and infect the whole staff. They come to work injured and leave more injured. There are employees working on elderly and pregnant clients with fevers so that they won't lose their jobs. It's unethical and morally reprehensible. Money comes before people. Lunch breaks are sometimes not given even when requested a month in advance and employees work back to back, doing very physical work with no break to eat or rest. Vacation time must be requested two months in advance, and employees must work two Saturdays a month without any exceptions for time off. So if you generally only work two Saturdays, that means no Saturday off for you unless you can make that missed day up, something a lot of staff members can’t do because of second jobs or children. There is mold in the building causing employees allergy and asthma symptoms. If there is a break in your schedule you can request to be oncall, but have to be available within 20 minutes unpaid. With such a short leash of time, nothing personal can be done on call, if you live further than 20 minutes away you can’t even go home. you have to hang out in close proximity to the spa for however many hours you’re oncall for free. The front desk receptionists are overworked and underpaid and receptionist turnover is very high.
