A company devoid of ethics

Pros

Pay is competitive with bigger companies in the natural resources sector

Cons

The senior management of this company have no morals or ethics whatsoever. They summarily dismiss staff (especially middle management) with reckless abandon purely because of a change in strategic direction. No quality or safety procedures. The share price is king at this place, even though it has “junk status”. CFO/CEO/Company Secretary etc had no moral fibre whatsoever and are contemptible individuals. They genuinely seem to think that employees are little more than disposable commodities. Avoid at all costs!

Pros

nice new office in the heart of the CBD

Cons

CEO and some senior executives have no technical experience, are not across the details and make no effort to understand what is truly going on. Yet pay themselves “above average” salaries and bonuses. “Us” and “them” mentality between senior managers and staff. CEO and senior executives make mistakes often. No opportunity for professional growth or development. You will absolutely be treated as a cog in a machine. Culture of rushing projects through, no attention to detail or questioning of decisions. Culture of towing the line to the CEO’s position and senior executives will be let go when providing professional advice that doesn’t match the view of the CEO. Toxic culture, and very amateur attempt at an oil and gas company.

Frustrating

Pros

It was small and dynamic. It had growth plans and was an exciting place to work. One week was never the same as the last.

Cons

Changes in direction far too frequent. Often circling back to a previous direction and then being asked why hasn't this progressed despite a particular focus being pushed down the priority list.
