Pros

Tried to execute the right culture.

Cons

This is 2 years on as it caused me a lot of pain and upset moving on was the hardest thing I ever had to do. - Management did not know what they wanted, expectations of staff they hired at the time. - Culture with good intentions ended up being not so great - there was a culture of staff needing to be positive all the time however I was constantly met with HR issues from multiple teams. I ended up having to escalate to the right manager to help employees. - Was not supported from when I joined, no reviews, no goals given, no framework to work to, no expectation setting. - Felt ignored and experience not taken seriously. - CEO was not clear in vision

Thank you for taking the time to give us this feedback. Whilst it is of course painful for us to read your views on your time with Sero it is only by receiving and acting upon feedback (good and bad) that we can learn and grow as an employer. We have come a long way in the last two years defining the processes and procedures we need to be a success, but I'm sorry you felt you didn't get the support you needed.

Pros

Dog friendly office, central office location

Cons

I really struggled with the Culture of the company. On the surface it was happy clappy and positive vibes but in reality even the longest standing staff were miserable and moaned about the Co-founders wanting to control everything and stifle good ideas and potential. They hired an expensive Product Owner team, didn’t let them do their job - and then got rid of them. They sell a dream to their customers (predominantly HAs who are all struggling at the moment) and fail to deliver. No one is sure exactly how Sero proposes to stay profitable and add value to its customers.

Thank you for taking some time to review your experience at Sero. We are sorry to hear that your experience working with us was mixed and felt disjointed. We absolutely try to keep a positive and happy culture for our team but are also completely understanding to the fact that not every day can be a good day, everyone has periods of time where they need outlets for frustrations before regrouping and moving forward. As we continue to scale up and improve our organisation it can become a little confusing and we are aware of our need to improve communication in some areas which is something we have taken big strides in over the last few months, this will continue to be monitored and refined to ensure everyone is continually on the same page regarding the Sero mission and value. We want to learn and grow as an employer so your feedback will be passed onto our teams for consideration and guidance for improvement. Whilst it is a shame that Sero wasn't the right place for you, we wanted to thank you again for your time with Sero and best of luck for the future.

Pros

Good laptop Rewarding work when you can actually get anything done Decent pay though there seems to be a lot more penny pinching happening now

Cons

Micro-management Lots of egos Company direction changes with the wind Senior people are fired/leaving at an alarming rate (head of product, product owners, tech lead, etc.) Products have been over sold and are under delivering, genuine fear of funding disappearing because of this Product advantage has been lost due to poor delivery

Hey, thanks for taking some time out to share your experience of Sero with others, it’s super important to us that people get their say and we’re sorry to hear your experience wasn’t as great as it could have been. Appreciate you sharing your pros, glad the equipment provided was at a good standard and the salary was perceived as fair. In terms of the company changing directions, as a scale up we work in a fast paced, dynamic organisation where priorities will change rapidly in order to establish ourselves as a real competitor in the market that can adapt and meet requirements – we know this style of working won’t be for everyone. Being a scale up also means growth, in the last 6 months our team grew by 27% and in that same time we saw a turnover of 8% which is in line with the UK average of 16.8% turnover per year. As much as it makes us sad to see our team members need to move on for a variety of reasons, this is very much a part of growing and finding out everyone’s strengths and preferences. We look forward to the continued growth at Sero as we are about to receive our next round of funding and will take lessons learned on board for this next stage. It’s sad to hear that you think the Sero team members are no longer feeling positive about the work here, we have regular conversations, surveys and forums to check in but understand things fall through the gaps. We encourage all our team members to talk to the People Team or their managers at any point with concerns and thoughts for improvement. Thank you for sharing your insights, we will use them to form some of our next steps. Best of luck to you for the future and thanks for your time and effort whilst with us!
