Pros

You will learn a lot very fast, massive exposure in little time. I would not be where I am today without the experience. You will learn more in a year than some will learn in 5 at an in house IT team. The team was great and always helpful. That being said, you have to adapt to a huge number of softwares and networks very quickly. There have been great strides in documentation. When you are good at something, it is noticed and appreciated. Free snacks and lunch provided on Fridays. Required certifications are paid for.

Cons

There was a lot of turnover. Pay raises were always "if you bring x things to the table in x time, you'll get it" make sure your salary is gonna make you happy for a few years. Weekends on call are required with no compensation. Vacation and holidays are sparse and you can get called on those.

Pros

Skynet Managed Technology- First let's please address the Elephant in the room! #1 I love saying I work at SKYNET!!! I mean come on have you seen the movie Terminator??? Okay, so I got that out of the way, in all seriousness starting here was the best decision I've made thus far in my career. The owner of the company cares about his employees, listens to suggestions, feedback, and truly wants to help our clients grow their business. I've worked at similar businesses, and I know what it's like dealing with CEO, Owner, Mgmt, etc., that isn't around or is 6 States away. I know what it's like to work at a company that has, and will continue to find ways to cut costs by outsourcing jobs overseas. You're always in fear of “The What If’s”, and you never really feel like you're apart of something great, larger than yourself. At Skynet, it's been an amazing journey, working together as a team, to continue to grow our business while truly taking care of our customers. Through our leadership, we've done amazing things, and we continue to deliver what we promise to our clients. Perks Stability!!! Salary!-Not going to lie, most I’ve made in my career Free Lunch Fridays Free Snacks Medical Dental My boss knows my name & appreciates me!

Cons

Snacks- too many sweets, should have a healthier option My office doesn't have a window, that would be nice :) It would be nice to have a larger break-room etc.

Pros

I learned most of what I know about IT Support from my time at Skynet. The wide breadth of technologies and job sectors that were supported contributed to this greatly, and for that I will always be thankful.

Cons

There was no opportunity for moving up. Getting a raise was like pulling teeth, and you had to have a manifestos-worth of reasons for the owner to even consider it. This included cost of living or inflation increases. The owner was also not exactly politically correct or spoke appropriately at times, trying to create a "bros" vibe. The pay was also extremely low compared to other roles. This is something I've seen at numerous MSPs so it isn't specific to Skynet. Finally, it felt impossible to keep up with the day-to-day tickets without working after hours. The owner specifically said several times that he doesn't want his employees to work after hours, which I do believe he truly meant, but they way the company is setup and the lower number of employees made that fairly difficult to impossible.
