Unfair Compensation Practices and Hollow Promises
Pros
They have a working open door policy.
Cons
The process of salary review at our company lacks fairness and transparency. Contract renewals and salary increments are determined through negotiations with the tech director, who tends to base decisions on personal biases rather than objective metrics like performance, responsibilities, or workload. It appears that salary increases are often influenced by how close one is to the director, or are granted based on superficial factors such as an employee’s perceived status or wealth. What is most concerning is the lack of honesty during these negotiations. The tech director regularly deflects responsibility, pretending that the salary offers come from elsewhere, when in fact he is the one making the final decisions. He routinely dismisses employees' accomplishments, and instead focuses on minor shortcomings to justify withholding fair compensation. This approach is not only demoralizing but also deeply unfair, as it disregards the hard work and contributions of many deserving employees. The company keeps us under the illusion that going the extra mile will lead to meaningful rewards. As long as we believe this, they continue benefiting from our hard work. Instead of genuine recognition or rewards, they offer non-monetary gestures—praise and accolades that cost them nothing. They take pride in making us think our efforts are appreciated, but in reality, they aren't. It's the classic 'carrot on a stick.' In rare cases, you might find an organization that truly rewards hard work, but more often than not, rewards are given for reasons that have little to do with effort. I've grown disillusioned; there's only so much empty talk I can handle.
