Cons
There is a culture of covering up mistakes and a strong dislike of anyone who tries to make positive improvements. The result of this was poor customer service and very low staff morale.
Working in a tech start up can always be challenging. At Smartzer however I always felt like everyone was there to help me through each challenge I faced however. The team is very tight knit and supportive, which in turn makes the work a lot more rewarding and fun.
The company also was a great place to grow as not only did everyone each have a good level of responsibility but also there was a real openness to new ideas / processes. This meant that big wins could be earnt and rewarded easily.
Despite COVID-19 there's also a good social side to the business with activities happening where possible. There's also a Share Option scheme which is also great to be a part of.
Cons
Like any job there are highs and lows, working at a start up sometimes these can be felt more dramatically. However due to the bonds within the team we were always able to overcome any tough times together.
