A complete and utter train wreck

Pros

The people. Some of the best people I know I met working here. Although most of them are gone now because they were either a) laid off for no reason B) quit for the sake of their mental health.

Cons

This company is a joke. New product is constantly being launched and then 5 minutes later being put on sale for 70% off because they couldn’t sell it at full price. Staff are overworked, underpaid and morale is extremely low. Everyone is doing the job of 3 people with no recognition or a wage that reflects the workload. Management does not listen to its staff and the facade that there is a great work culture or that they are a “happy family” is completely fake. Zero work/life balance… people are texted and called at all hours in panic when things are going badly, which is always. STAY AWAY.

A Nightmare of Micromanagement and Exploitation: Avoid Smash + Tess!

Pros

The one star is for all the amazing employees who dedicate too much of their time and energy to this company and put up with the bull the CEO delivers on a daily basis. You’re all awesome and I wish you loads of luck. Despite the challenges, your hard work and commitment to the job do not go unnoticed amongst your peers. It's unfortunate that such dedication is squandered in a exasperating work environment that fails to appreciate your true value.

Cons

I can confidently say my time at Smash + Tess was the most demoralizing workplace I have ever encountered. From the very top down, this company operates on a foundation of narcissism, disregard for expertise, and the exploitation of hardworking employees. First and foremost, the CEO of Smash + Tess is nothing short of a narcissistic individual. It is apparent that her main focus is maintaining her social image and flaunting an extravagant lifestyle rather than genuinely caring about the well-being of her employees or the success of the business. The obsession with personal image has trickled down into every aspect of the company's operations, leaving employees feeling undervalued and disposable. What's worse is that the CEO's micromanaging tendencies extend to the point where she stifles any creativity or expertise among the employees. Despite hiring individuals for their specific skills and qualifications, the CEO insists on having a say in every little detail, disregarding and overruling those who have the expertise to do the job they were hired for. This creates an environment of frustration and resentment, where talented and capable individuals are reduced to mere pawns in the CEO's egocentric game. The company's modus operandi seems to be perpetually scrambling to catch up, which leads to a never-ending cycle of chaos. Instead of allowing employees to focus on their respective roles and responsibilities, they are constantly juggling multiple tasks that they were never meant to handle. The result? Overworked and exhausted employees who are expected to work unreasonable amounts of overtime without any proper compensation. It's not uncommon for employees to find themselves fulfilling the roles of two or even three people, without any acknowledgement of their efforts or additional pay. To make matters worse, Smash + Tess shamelessly underpays its employees. Despite the immense efforts they put in, the company has no qualms about depriving its hard working staff of fair and competitive wages. It's insulting to see the CEO's ostentatious lifestyle while those who keep the company afloat struggle to fight for what they deserve. In short, Smash + Tess is a sinking ship, and I recommend steering clear of it altogether. Look elsewhere for a company that truly values its employees, fosters a positive work culture, and strives for genuine success. Your well-being and career aspirations are worth far more than any fleeting fashion trend or influencer-endorsed brand.
