I have been working at Snowy Hydro full-time

    Pros

Good salary, flexible working arrangements (depending largely on who your manager is), very generous with training and development (again depends on your boss)

    Cons

Some managers stuck in the past. A lot of brown nosers.

    Advice to Management

    Adapt to change.

I worked at Snowy Hydro full-time

    Pros

Strong emphasis on safety and training. A number of different career pathways available. Amazing scenery and job locations.

    Cons

Strong emphasis on safety can sometimes mean it is a long drawn out process to get any work done which is a poor effect on team morale.

I have been working at Snowy Hydro full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Excellent career opportunities for motivated individuals. Beautiful place to work and play. A sense of worth

    Cons

There are those who believe they are entitled to a career and do not add value to the business.

    Advice to Management

Do what you are doing, but do it faster

I worked at Snowy Hydro for less than a year

    Pros

Privilege working for a national icon. Interesting plant. Generous allowances. Some decent people.

    Cons

Ex defence force personnel slowly taking over and with them comes the oppressive management style from the army. You have to wait for someone to die to get a job here. Boys club management styles.

    Advice to Management

Current CEO has done a good job by dismissing a lot of corrupt managers. Unfortunately Snowy Hydro is now infiltrated with ex defence force personnel. These people go seem to go straight to the top of the management ladder and then start hiring their mates leaving no opportunity for anyone else to get a job through merits. Army management = oppression

I worked at Snowy Hydro full-time

    Pros

Opportunity to work for an Australian icon in your chosen profession in some of the most beautiful parts of Australia. Good job stability.

    Cons

Blame culture, lack of transparency and inconsistent policies and procedures. Transition to drive in/drive out outsourced/contract workforce loses the connection to the local community and pioneering spirit of the scheme.

    I worked at Snowy Hydro

    Pros

It's in a small community, 5 minutes commute to work, great development opportunities on offer. There are some motivated people to work with, you just have to pick who to talk to. In a country town so great work/life balance, you can go home to see your family at lunch, and it's a 1.5hr drive to the beach/snow/city.

    Cons

Processes are a bit clunky, you have to bring your own accountability and drive. When I left it was in the middle of driving a cultural and structural change so people were thin across the business units and work flow was adhoc at times.

    Advice to Management

You've got some good people, some get recognised, and some don't. There are some in senior management who's presence isn't really felt.
