Shady Business Practices and Horrible Management

Pros

The regular employees are nice and there were some fun times within the regular staff (though a bit 'clicky').

Cons

CEO micro-manages everyone and lies through her teeth. Cannot be trusted. Her whole mission is to sell her company and try to maximize her return, while the workers who actually make this company run would get pennies on the dollar through the "amazing shares" of the company you may get. If you are an Engineer looking for a job, don't bother. They only hire people from other countries who they can hire for a cheaper salary than a Canadian would ask for and then sponsor them into Canada, without actually interviewing or seriously considering locals.

We're sorry to hear your time at Social Nature left you with this impression. We’re committed to building a culture where people thrive while making a positive impact. When this is not the experience for an employee, we seek to understand how we can continue to grow and improve as a company. Your feedback is valuable and we'd also like to respond to clarify a few points for future candidates. On transparency: “Keep it real” is one of our core values, and as the founder and CEO I strive to lead with honesty and openness. Concerns are, and always can be, raised directly or anonymously through our Chief of Staff. On mission: For 15 years, I’ve been committed to making greener choices mainstream. As a certified B Corp, we hold ourselves to the highest social and environmental standards. On stock options: 10% of the company has been set aside for employees to share in our success, every full time employee receives stock options when they start along with top-ups as they continue to grow with us. On engineering: We hire both locally and internationally sponsored talent. Salaries are benchmarked between the median and 75th percentile for Vancouver tech companies, with strong benefits, above industry average paid time off, and a flexible remote-first work environment.

We also appreciate your feedback on compensation. This is something we continuously review and work to improve. Every year we benchmark our roles against similar companies to stay competitive, and we also strive to provide value through indirect compensation like flexibility, benefits, and growth opportunities. We’re committed to keeping these conversations open and evolving as we grow, and your input is an important part of that.

Pros

1) Great leadership with managers that actually care for their workers; 2) Main product of the company is growing and has great appeal; 3) My work colleagues are always trying to help whenever they can; 4) Company culture make the employee welfare a priority. That's a very rare trait in companies nowadays.

Cons

Any cons that I experienced so far
