The CEO is the company's problem

Pros

Great colleagues, pretty much the best part of this mess of a company.

Cons

CEO is extremely calculative, he will try to play around with your annual leaves. Of course there's no way to legally nail him since he did it in such a vague way but you still know what he's trying to do. It's also pretty obvious to every employee that he's very unhappy when people take consecutive leaves. Once he is displeased with you, he'll find the slightest mistakes, overlook all of the other big successes you've brought the company and continue bringing them up again and again, in front of customers even. If he regards your negotiating position to be weaker than his, he will behave in and use exploitative tactics, such as intentionally paying you salaries late, talk you down and say he can always find better candidates from NUS/NTU, in order to "encourage" you to put in more OT hours for no reason whatsoever (OT is unpaid) He seems to also have an issue with people not working throughout an entire day for OT. He whined to a colleague engineer that we're only in for half day and "what's the point", even though we're not even provided lunch. Management is very incompetent but also has a massive ego. He knows practically nothing, absolutely nothing about the products except commenting dumb suggestions serving to merely improve the aesthetics. And then he'll try to control what you do, such as when you suggest a potential solution during meetings, he'll say "No, I think you are wrong." State an entirely different thing which has nothing to do with the issue at hand and will get very upset when pretty much everyone disagrees. Worse part is, he will agree to all the suggestions that everyone else has agreed upon. Within 2 days, he will approach you and bring up his "solution" which will never work and pretend like the entire meeting never took place. Basically, he's not trying to run a company to make money and provide solutions, he is just using the company to stroke his own ego in the most pathetic way possible. He will also NEVER EVER take responsibility for literally anything. He will tell us not to tell customer about a new feature we are planning to include, goes over there, tell the customer exactly what feature we're planning and come back to us and ask why the customer know about the feature. Try saying that it was him who told the customer that, and he'll start raising voice and throwing a tantrum that we're blaming him when it really is his fault, witnessed also by multiple people. He also has a habit of pitting engineers against one another, when he's alone with you, he will talk massive trash about another engineer, but when he's alone with the other engineer he just talked trash about, he will talk massive trash about you. The dumbest part is he expects people to not talk about what the CEO just said to them. Morale amongst the employees is already in the dirt and started digging. Except maybe when the management inevitably screws up on a daily basis, then it's just a comedy show.

Business outlook is bad

Pros

Boss will buy you meals. There is no known CTO so as a fresh grad / intern you have immense responsibility to deliver the product to a customer

Cons

There is no technical in charge so there is no long term road-map for the product lines. Fresh grads / Interns will come in and will be expected to perform miracles on the robot with unreasonable deadlines and eventually they leave as they do not see a future at this company. Fresh Grads & Interns: The company website looks beautiful but the working experience is not as rosy. I would avoid this company unless you are quite desperately looking for some initial working experience. There are also repeated issues of salary payment with most employees. As of 2020, every single person at the company (except CEO) is a fresh grad or intern. All the colleagues who worked with me have since quit, so the next round of fresh grad / intern hiring begins to fill up the manpower.

Pros

Co-workers are good and smart. That's really all there is.

Cons

CEO is probably one of the worst you will find. He doesn't understand his product but seems to think that he is the forerunner of it. There is no leader. You will have to do everything by yourself and be answerable for it. There will also be an extremely unrealistic timeline for it as the CEO does not understand that developments take a certain amount of time. There is also the issue with salary. The CEO has a tendency to never pay on time and will ask you to OT as often as he deems fit. The advice is not to come here unless you have no other options. But let's be real, there are plenty of other options out there.
