Pros

Do you enjoy being treated like you're lucky to have a job? Do you want to be overworked and under paid? If you're worried about being promoted because you are an awesome and qualified person while suck-ups and toadies are unappreciated, fear not! Sonic Automotive is the place for you!

Cons

Absolutely nothing! If you are sick of seeing your family day after day you don't have to worry, Sonic prefers that you have no social or family life at all! Plus, you don't have to worry that you are doing an excellent job because you aren't! And Sonic's crack team of micro-managers will never let you forget it!

Pros

Yes, this is a great organization for the GUEST and on the right track but it is not all moonlight and magnolias. I am reviewing this dealership because reviews from managers and corporate trainers here on Glass Door are divisive, intended to attract applicants and force bad reviews on to page two. The new process is innovative and we have some of the finest, most ethical middle managers in the business but...

Cons

Be prepared to be micro managed to the point where you can't take proper care of your business and guests becuse you are forced to be "on base". That means you will stand for hours to wait for someone to walk in the door and then rotate to 2nd base to wait even longer. This makes no sense but they have not caught on to this total waste of resources yet. If they tell you what the "average" salesperson makes, please don't believe it. It's designed to make you say to yourself "If he can do it, I can do it!" Well, if you can do it if you will sacrifice your personal life. Good news though, corporate will send you a nice email on all the holidays your working telling you to enjoy your "family time" and wishing you God's blessings. You will also have to reach a near impossible set of bars to do so. If you DO get there, it will be awhile before your next review and fair compensation for it.

Stunning Disappointment

Pros

If you're accepting of the overall environment - you'll go far. My experiences noted below are reflective of the particular location I am employed at. Your experience may (I hope) vary.

Cons

By all appearances - corporation is out of tune (?) with what is going on at the dealer level. Fly-by-the-seat-of-the-pants, make-up-things-as-you-go atmosphere with stunning lack of processes, procedures, and coordination. Nobody on same page inter-departmentally. LONG days & some six day weeks; pay not at all commensurate with the brutal hours put in. This from a company that claims to recognize & understand that employees have a family life outside of work. Alarmingly offensive/uncomfortable work environment at times - if somebody knew a good lawyer in the family, they could potentially have a field day here.
