69% positive business outlook
Pros
Working in one of the fastest moving technology fields at the moment, makes each day different. There are rarely any dull moments at Speechmatics. Salaries and benefits are competitive. The work is also rewarding in itself because of the relatively short path from R&D to real life application. Colleagues are helpful and you always feel like part of the team. There's also great room to take your own initiatives and propose new ideas.
Cons
One of the few cons I can think of is the location of the office and lack of lunch options and other services around it. The company could maybe make an effort to offer free lunch more often.
Pros
Safe and friendly office environment. People avoid any kind of drama and tend to mind their own business. Smart colleagues.
Cons
The company has completely inadequate leadership. There is no steer, no forward looking strategy to tackle the rapidly growing sense that we have become a commodity. We keep pushing Conversational AI when all of our revenue still comes from ASR. We are sitting ducks and the leadership pretends like everything is going to plan. Why has the CEO not been replaced yet? Whatever the reviews say here, there is not a single person I know that has any faith in the management. Get rid of the CEO, and the CSO who has been here for over 10 years now, find some industry experts to come onboard who can set a real vision and bring a fresh perspective. We just need real change.
Pros
Industry leader. Spacious office. Nice colleagues. Flexible working.
Cons
A clueless leadership team, instead of listening and fixing problems resort to gaslighting and bullying. Company struggling to attract good talent. Poor remuneration and very basic perks. Poor staff retention. Lack of clear strategy and processes. Teams lack stability and clear direction. Long working hours. Stress. Chaos. No training or mentoring. Horrible culture. No recognition of hard work. No career or salary progression. ML team are the centre of attention, much better paid and resourced. Otherwise, you are out of luck.
Pros
nice colleagues & good work culture
Cons
not moving faster enough in the conversational AI space, lack of sales process
Pros
- high levels of trust and autonomy - the new London office is a great upgrade and good space to work in - talented colleagues - some very exciting plans for the future product direction - i love my manager and the support they give me personally and professionally
Cons
- there could be a bit more consistent update on company strategy as things move so fast - hybrid working means that i don't feel I always know enough about other parts of the business
Pros
I’m trusted to do my job in whichever way I think is best. Exciting products Competent colleagues and management
Cons
Cambridge office could do with some sprucing up
Pros
The office is new and nice and the company did well getting everyone in. A lot of social events in the past (I guess these will continue when COVID restrictions lift) The benefits are basic but okay. The office manager, Charlie, is just fantastic.
Cons
Salary for me was around £5-10k less than other people working the same role. Personal development always promised, never actually got anything. The Chief Marketing Officer went through a Mental Health Course yet still bullies passive aggressively on internal emails and meetings. Workplace is under resourced massively in Engineering based teams. The HR team will fob you off when it comes to anything regarding personal development. A lot of great colleagues have left and will be leaving because of the current situations a lot of them find themselves in.
Pros
great colleagues, great product to sell
Cons
no coaching, commission structure needs to be more motivating
Pros
Great colleagues to work with
Cons
Leadership isn’t necessarily where it needs to be
Pros
Great, talented team Good, solid products Passionate colleagues Decent perks Inclusive environment Hybrid work
Cons
Completely Invisible leadership - Negligible long-term vision from leadership, company doesn’t follow through on releases since there’s no vision Lacking employer recall - Doesn’t open any doors Very slow to innovate (except probably Flow) Low pay for the significant amount of work Slow career growth
