Pros

Very few pros to speak of. Only pros would be my coworkers at a lateral level who are a joy to be around.

Cons

This family run company will have no problem trying to overwork you. The level of nepotism is astounding. If you complain to HR you will be retaliated against by being passed up for promotions, excluded from big projects, and more. Leadership thinks they own your LinkedIn profile and will stalk it constantly. Compensation adjustments are a joke and the company doesn't actually take care of the employees. There is a "culture committee" that can't get approval to get Chipotle catered for lunch. Overall the family picks favorites and doesn't tie compensation to actual job performance. Also some of the family members are obvious substance abusers, specifically cocaine. The level of stress the team is chronically under is sad to watch. Communication is insanely lackluster with information silos being present in a company with less than 150 people (embarrassing). The company has also tried to take legal action against people who try to go work for competitors. This is a very toxic work culture where most team members don't feel safe and secure in there positions in any given week. Please stay away from Sports Research and instruct others to do the same.

Family Company

Pros

The company is small in numbers, which means getting to know coworkers on a personal level is easy.

Cons

There are also challenges when working for a family company, when you aren't part of the family or one of the respected and loved employees. Earning that respect feels like an uphill battle at times even if the employee is giving 150%.
