Pros

Cool things to work on, remote, decent pay.

Cons

Management is disconnected from engineering, the company is completely dependent on engineering yet leaves the department with a skeleton crew. Senior management is not approachable and exhibits questionable trustworthiness. Total lack of transparency while simultaneously talking about transparency. High level productivity is unnoticed and unrewarded, hitting it out of the park for the company results in rewards for the next hiring round of “VPs”. More VPs than ICs. Bonuses are promised but never paid. Because engineering is always understaffed compared to the expectation the tech debt burden is high. Promises new hires but never follows through.

Pros

Unlimited vacation A few qualified leaders Some people want to do the right thing

Cons

Operations leaders are not the right people in key roles. This starts from the very top. The VP would say things like “that’s the first I’m hearing of that” when you’d been in 3 earlier meetings and discussed it at length. It was very clear she wasn’t paying attention. They expected everyone to understand their business immediately there was no training or clear path to success. Very immature c suite instead of trying to teach anyone anything they just seemed to be more worried about the smallest thing instead of trusting people and then in turn coaching them on exactly how to get better, or how to do what they expected. Expected to work the weekend all the time if anything came up. Instead of having honest conversations with clients about realistic deadlines. Once you worked the weekend they would say things like…welcome to the team! Like it was some kind of badge of honor. Clear favoritism within the organization which lead to highly unqualified promotions Just generally expecting the world from people but giving them no tools or roadmap on how to actually complete any work. Hiding behind the…it’s a “start up” mentality. I’ve worked at serval start ups and this was more than that.

Pros

Active space with lots of ways you can quickly make a difference and jump in. Fast moving company but in an intentional direction. Leadership has been open to new ideas, learning how to be better and continuously open to feedback. I've appreciated the autonomy to do my job and make decisions that I feel move my goals forward and have experienced support, encouragement, feedback and ideas that have helped me do my job better. Overall, I'm excited about SteadyMD and the different they are making on the healthcare front and looking forward to continuing to give feedback to leadership, learn with them and care for patients.

Cons

The organization moves quickly and you may have to advocate for slowing down and asking questions. Everyone has been so helpful as I've learned the ropes, but if you're not comfortable asking questions and clarifying things, you may feel a little overwhelmed. There's a youthfulness to the organizations leadership that can lend itself to feeling a bit like we are learning as we go, but as I mentioned above - leadership is open to feedback, committed to making the organization a fantastic place to work and I've already seen improvement.

Thanks so much for this helpful review. We absolutely agree that our fast-paced start-up dynamic works better for some people than for others, and we're so glad that it's been a positive experience for you. It is important to us that our company culture reflects our core values of integrity, flexibility, empowering ownership, and collaborating shoulder to shoulder, in part because we feel these play a major role in continued success in a fast-paced environment such as ours. Thank you again for your feedback!
