Pros

The salary and the commission potential is great, they typically start all TM’s out between $75K - $85K. If you are able to close deals you will be very well compensated and have uncapped commission. The yearly company outings are rather “lavish” and they like to treat everyone to a nice destination with a fun activity thrown in there instead of 2-3 straight days of presentations.

Cons

Other than financial possibilities, the company is a sink-or-swim culture and will likely cause you to lose sleep at night. Management has very little, almost zero, regard for personal life and expects you to make work your entire life/personality. The workload can be outrageous at times, and if you aren’t able to complete all tasks in a timely manner that they see fit then you’ll be in the hot seat. Half the time they’ll put people on a PIP, and the other half they’ll ask so much of you that it either forces people to resign or it gives them a “reason” to fire you (if fired, they won’t provide a reason.) Sometimes if upper management favors someone over the employee who is currently in a certain role, they’ll release the current employee without reason just to get the person they like more into that position. Yes, it’s a popularity contest a percentage of the time. The General Sales Managers will work weekends and you’ll often receive emails on Saturdays and Sundays, causing you to feel like you can never truly unplug. Upper management hires people who they know they can rule over with an iron thumb, so that mentality is fed top-down to everybody. Management will act like a trusted entity, but they will throw you under the bus to cover their own behinds at any given moment. Turnover is very high amongst all departments, especially sales. Their training/onboarding is essentially 3-5 days of meetings with all of their departments on policies, practices and the engineering of their products, but you’re basically drinking from a firehose and are expected to retain everything once the week’s over. As soon as training is over with, you’re thrown into the deep end without a float or a lifeguard on duty. If you’re in sales, your success largely relies on the timeliness and responsiveness of other departments that are required to be involved in every project you oversee. In classic sales fashion, if you fall behind on a project because of another department’s lack of effort or too slaw of a turnaround, you’re pinned as the issue. StormTrap doesn’t hire enough people to keep up with the workload, and this is largely due to the high turnover rate (caused by poor management). This review is obviously based off of my personal experience, but this experience is largely felt and agreed upon by former and current employees at StormTrap. My advice is to avoid this company as competitors in the same industry will pay you just as handsomely and have better work-life balance. Remember, at StormTrap you’re not valued, you’re just a number.

Strong sense of camaraderie throughout the company. Doing the right thing here is valued and supported and operating with integrity always comes first. The workload can be demanding but the majority of leadership places an emphasis on ensuring people in all departments are recognized/acknowledged for their contributions and hard work. Industry-leading products that anyone can stand behind with a constant focus on continued innovation and customer satisfaction. Outstanding executive team that truly values all employees.
