Pros

- Some of the employees aren't bad - It's easy to get away with being lazy if you're incompetent - Unlimited PTO was legitimate, although others may have a different opinion on the subject

Cons

I don't think these are bad people, and everyone deals with problems in their own way, so I don't want to pass judgement, but I feel like I need to write this as a public service. Many of the good reviews were written by current employees after management freaked out about some bad reviews, so the overall rating paints a whitewashed picture. I really wish I had the opportunity to have read some more honest reviews before I made the decision to work here. A couple of previous reviews hit the nail on the head, and their statements are a reflection of the core underlying issues, so I'm going to include their two points first: - A revolving door of employees - The competent leave, the incompetent stay - Salary is well below market value - Micromanagement rules the roost, but takes a backseat to the perma-chaos that pervades nearly all decision making and interactions - Good ideas are routinely ignored in favor of the whim of a single, irrational decision maker - If you are competent, the work of the incompetent (the majority of staff) will be dumped on you - Management will ask for your advice, you will spend time and energy coming up with good advice, then you will be roundly ignored in favor of bad advice

Pros

- Provided snacks/drinks - Dog friendly - View of Puget Sound - Walking distance to great restaurants - Open vacation time - Liquor Fridays

Cons

- A continues source of stress, frustration, overwhelming work load, long hours, and low wages - Sales force who over promises to clients - Chaotic work flow - Admittedly ineffective management - Immovable deadlines - Hostile work environment (office conditions, harassment of all types, exhibition of frustration, shaming for missed deadlines) - Resistance to positive change - Resistance to negative feedback - A revolving door of employees (the competent leave, the incompetent stay) - An unpredictable and frequent change in strategy from the co-founders - Constant whispers of dissent from co-workers - A 15 year old company with stunted growth

Pros

Some great co-workers, decent loft/office, decent benefits, flexible hours, some independence, (some) appreciation for overtime work or extra effort, some decent projects but getting progressively fewer. Company makes sincere efforts to be good employers. Company gets points for wanting to do good creative work, but appears to be moving to more high-volume, low-touch production projects and templates.

Cons

Reliant on a very small number of clients. Uneven work flow means you'll be slammed one week and trying to look busy the next. You face a high probability of being laid off as soon as work slows down, or fired for some alleged misdeed. Faddish management practices like "unlimited time off" mean you get time off when, and if, they feel they can afford it, regardless of what you may have negotiated. Atmosphere can be oppressive, dysfunctional and miserable at times, depending on the CEO's mood. Totally arbitrary policies change from day to day. You are "no longer allowed to talk to project managers about the project you're working on"----seriously? Senior management stays holed up in their office studying the latest "managing your small business" self-help book, cooking up the next wacky policy miracle while studiously avoiding the actual hands-on management of their business. Everyone is equally "empowered" in this workers paradise, so forget about owning a project or giving it direction. It's a free-for-all. Your work will be changed dramatically, at will, by whomever feels like changing it, for whatever reason. Save your comps. Like a lot of small companies, the ultimate decision-making power rests in one guy who is usually unavailable to make a decision. Veering between "why are you bothering me with these DETAILS ?" and "why was I not kept in the loop?", everyone is kept guessing about what he wants that day, and praying they guess correctly. You probably get the picture. If you don't, you might still find this an acceptable place to work.
