Extremely Unethical Company

Pros

While working here you'll at least occasionally experience the "feeling" as if they actually care about you. But make no mistake, they don't. I also made good money at one time.

Cons

The Owners/Partners of this company lack any ability to empathize with anyone or anything. They lock themselves in their office and communicate with the employees and customers as little as possible. Actually, I take that back, they don't communicate with the customers AT ALL under any circumstances. Why, do you ask, because they despise people in general and their customers are no exception. The Partners will do and say things occasionally that make you feel as though there might be a chance that they actually value you as a human being but, what they're really doing is deliberately manipulating you to do what they want. And that is, make them money. They hire management who are puppets on a string and share the same lack of ethics as they do. They bring on employees, make them sign non-competes and work them to death. Then one day you'll come in and they'll have a reason why they need to cut your pay along with a very cleaver angle on why that's not a bad thing. And don't even think about quitting! Every single person who has left this company from installers to sales guys have been screwed out of pay. There are no exceptions, you quit, you loose everything that you have previously earned but have not been paid on. They even make you sign a document when you're hired that says if you leave or get fired you forfeit all earners. (For the sales guys, that 3 months of pay!) Then, as if that is not bad enough, they will take every opportunity they have to slander former employees right in front of the staff. They do this because they want us to think that the employee who left ware just bad apples and were unjustified in everything that they felt or said. Don't like being micromanaged? Than this is not the place for you! They've gone as far as to make their employees install apps on their own personal phones that track their location at all times. Management will demean you in front of co-workers if you're not compliant to every request. Rules change daily, literally daily. Even if you try to follow the rules by the book, management will throw you under the bus at the first sign of a problem. For instance if one of the "new rules" resulted in negative consequences then management lie and say they never made that rule and they will tell the Partners that you just went rouge. But then you can't stand up for yourself because you're not allowed to talk to the Partners. So every single possible problem results in the same thing, YOU'RE the problem.

Pros

They pay fairly well. They can attract good employees. They have insurance. They offer a 401(k) to management employees. I said most of that only cause there is a 20 word minimum.

Cons

These people are toxic to work for. They constantly pit their management team against each other. They complain about person A's ability to perform and tell you that you need to address it- then they'll leave the very same meeting they were badmouthing person A in and tell them what a great job they're doing. Completely two-faced. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the owners created fake emails to write reviews on GlassDoor saying their company is a good place to work. 5 Things I would rather do than work at SunSmart: 1. Take a job as the 'before' model in 'before and after' plastic surgery ads 2. Invest my entire life savings into Blockbuster stock 3. Personally tell every child in the world that there is no Santa Claus 4. Publicly defend George Bush as America's greatest philosopher 5. Let OJ Simpson show me his knife collection
