Pros

The process for writing a guide is clear and there is a lot of support from the editors. Assignments require substantial work, but are well-compensated.

Cons

The fairly high word count requirements can be time-consuming.

Thanks for sharing your experience—I’m so happy to hear it’s been a positive one! In 2023, we worked hard to refine our resources, templates, and guidance to be succinct, clear, and supportive, and it’s affirming to hear that our intentions matched your experience. Our Study Guides are comprehensive, and that does require a lot of expertise and effort from our writers. But our customers have told us again and again how invaluable the depth of our Study Guides is to them. Know that every theme, symbol, character and quote analysis is appreciated on the other side! Thank you for being a part of our team and helping bring such inestimable value to our users. Emily Glaser, Head of Content

Flexible job, great for a side gig. Especially if you're a teacher or a writer.

Depending on the books you choose, the pay isn't amazing

Pros

I worked at SuperSummary briefly as part of their People Ops team. What I encountered were sweet, dedicated, amazing people who truly care about the work they do. Working in people ops, you get a real feel of the culture and the soul of a company, and I can attest that these people truly do care, from leadership down, there’s not a bad apple in the bunch. Working with this team would be a fantastic opportunity for anyone.

Cons

The con definitely has to be that restructuring eliminated my position just 3 months after accepting the job. The instability sucked, but I never got the feeling that it was mean-spirited and intentional, rather just an unfortunate business decision. They were very kind and generous all the way through.
