Great People, Still Finding Its Feet
Pros
On the positive side, the office setup was genuinely great and offered hybrid working. The culture was a real strength, it truly felt like a close-knit group of people who cared about each other, giving the company a strong “family” atmosphere despite the growing pains. From my perspective, there was also a lot of autonomy to make meaningful improvements, exposure to a wide range of systems and challenges, and the opportunity to have real impact on how the business operated day to day. The pace meant you learned quickly, worked closely with stakeholders across the company, and could genuinely help shape a growing organisation.
Cons
Pay was generally below industry standard, with a noticeable imbalance where remote employees tended to receive better overall deals than office-based staff. Engineers were clearly prioritised and treated significantly better than other departments, which created an uneven internal experience. The company also struggled with managing growth and maturing its processes, leading to typical Series A startup challenges such as a lack of role security and organisational stability.
