Pros

Everyone is passionate about they do. It's the kind of place where directors and executives at the C-level will stop by to introduce themselves and say hi to you when you bump into them in the hallways. You can tell that everyone genuinely believes that the work they do is meaningful. I am given a lot of autonomy over my work and assigned projects to look after. Even as an entry-level employee, I've always felt supported and given "real work" right from the start. The entire management team is extremely open to feedback. My manager does not micromanage and trusts me to complete my own tasks. When I have questions, I am not afraid to reach out. When I have an idea for process improvements, I feel comfortable voicing my thoughts. It's really inspiring to hear the President of the company talk about his goals and vision of where he sees the company going. The company doesn't withhold information from its employees and lets us know future plans in store. Also, the technology is just amazing. During orientation, I could see the clear differences in what Synaptive had to offer compared to its competitors. At the end of the day, it's really satisfying to know that you're contributing towards a product that will ultimately change someone's life. Other perks: - Cool company events and get-togethers - Tons of snacks and healthy fruit provided - Coffee and tea offered - Flex hours - Pretty good benefits package, all premiums covered by company - WORK IS FUN!

Cons

The downside is that since the company is fairly new, it is still in the process of setting up standard procedures. Would not recommend to anyone who is used to and would prefer a more structured environment. It can sometimes be a refreshing challenge to implement protocols.

Pros

- Flexibility. Hours and working from home opportunities - Salary. They went through a industry standard exercise and it's much better.

Cons

- Poor management. Management has technical experience, but no management skills or people skills. Management is young and inexperienced. - Incompetent people are protected due to relationships and promoted because they were "there first" - HR and Management are incapable of dealing with interpersonal relationship issues and work place harassment. - A lot of men are management, very little females in management roles. - Strong females are ignored or pushed out. - Very little career development and mentorship opportunities. - It is an Engineering "boys club"

Pros

This company has some interesting technology that has the potential to see some high demand in the future (5+ years). The lower level managers (below Director) are mostly great. IT department is way above average in terms of accessibility, responsiveness, providing leading-edge tech, and general friendliness.

Cons

In contrast to its potential, the company has struggled to retain its talented workforce while trying to turn its first profit. Some poor hiring decisions have led to plenty of conflicts over the years and many of the supremely talented staff resigned directly as a result of these issues remaining unresolved. Stay away from some of the operational teams - Finance, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, System Test, and Service / Customer Care in particular. The top leadership for those teams is not only lacking in competency but also confrontational and abrasive. If you think you can deal with the most controlling yet ineffective managers, then by all means, try your luck. Things may change if leadership changes, but expect that to take a while, and know that in the meantime, even the few good ones may lose what made them great.
