Tappan models itself after tech start-ups which means employees are expected to work long hours, wear numerous hats, be subject to sudden/rash business decisions and the company has a fairly regular employee turn over as a result. There's a disconnect between the start-up and e-commerce nature of this company with representing artists who often feel overlooked and not supported by Tappan beyond their sales capacity. Many artists at Tappan are lovely to work with, but there are also some who are incredibly demanding and difficult to work with. There is a history of mistrust that artists feel toward Tappan (especially if they've been there for years) that often gets directed at employees that are not contributors to the frustrations but rather just the unfortunate messengers. Company spending is prioritized to ad spend and vanity projects like building a new office and gallery space in West Hollywood. Do not expect impactful raises or bonuses if you work here. Like other reviews on here, Tappan is not a very diverse company.

Tappan Collective is the most toxic workplace I've ever encountered, and the brand itself is completely fake. Y'know those companies that are backed by family money and basically use it to buy followers and marketing? That's this. Worse so, Tappan fosters a culture of distrust & dishonesty, and they pay you nothing. You can forget about raises, or bonuses, let alone a living wage. They treat everyone horribly here except for clients with money. Me and handfuls of other ex-employees here have found that the owner holds a grudge against anyone who leaves--no matter if you leave on good terms. Since anyone who leaves is viewed as an enemy of the Neman family, they'll never give your future employer a job referral making this place a liability on your resume. If you need a job and they've offered you a role and you're reading this page: GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. Any positive reviews on this page are 1000% made by management.
