We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a positive experience in your time with us.
It's great to hear that you worked on some great projects, with talented and nice people and benefitted from the extensive training and development budget opportunities we provide... But we know that Taxi isn't for everyone.
We work incredibly hard and don't rest until the work is as good as it can be and some people can find the pace and the 'striving for better' too much.
It is dynamic, bustling (and as you rightly say, at times loud and chaotic) but we wouldn't change it. That collaborative spirit, passion and 'say-it-as-you-see-it' runs through the agency – and our values of real relationships, fairness and fearlessness guide us on everything from recruitment to remuneration to qualification of opportunities, to the work we produce. Not everyone sees how management apply these values behind the scenes, but everyone should feel them and know how to live by them.
Of course the founders are still involved in the creative – their role within projects means designers can learn directly from them – but we also have CDs leading the studio and and DDs leading projects and everyone’s input is listened to.. most of our work is living proof that 'ideas can come from anywhere'.
We accept there have been times this year when we have not had enough team members – but this isn't tactical, this is born out of a shortage of regional talent for the roles we needed. We've never deliberately under-resourced projects or put pressure on the team in pursuit of a fast buck, that's not what Taxi is about.
Equally we don't have an expectation of working late (we know we're a lot better than most agencies when it comes to long hours), but in this industry there are always times when we need to dig deep and pull out all the stops and when we are short on people, pulling together is even more important.
In terms of support, every member of the team has multiple people to lean on developmentally and pastorally and we’re proud of the effectiveness of our pastoral and support processes, so we are sorry to hear that you didn't experience this (or raise this while you are with us) to enable us to act.
Equally, it is surprising that changes have felt slow. In the last two years we have completely overhauled most aspects of the agency which has meant lots of change, but with the happiness of 60 people to consider, some things need time and care and breathing space to ensure they happen right – and (as with most things) making sure it is done right, is more important than making sure it is done fast.
