I did not feel that TerraCorps lived up to its promises of equity and inclusion. I felt a lot of fear and confusion working in this job. I felt confused about decision-making processes and company finances, and I was unclear about who held the actual power to make various decisions the entire time I worked at this company. It was hard to tell whether decisions were being made based on evidence or facts, but it did not appear as though they were. It did not feel as though leadership or the board of directors were particularly interested in listening when important critical feedback was brought to them by a large percentage of the staff. I didn't get the impression that leadership had much respect for our professionalism or lived experiences if those things were used to critique the status quo or their own leadership, especially from BIPOC staff. And the way that leadership reacted to certain events made me feel afraid on a number of levels, though I cannot say for certain whether this environment of fear was engendered intentionally or accidentally. My emotional health has improved significantly since leaving this company. I would not recommend working for this company unless they can provide evidence to you that they have made some significant changes from the status quo that drove former staff away.
