Poor staff treatment, complete disconnect from reality

Pros

Flex-time (but your pay will be docked retroactively if your self submitted time sheets are 15+ minutes inaccurate going back at least 6 months)

Cons

Unfair dress code policy, lack of proper communication channels, entire upper management staff is located in Birmingham, every other office is looked down upon and treated like incompetent children, lack of proper staff vetting or dispute handling as there have been multiple sexual harassment situations that have been brushed under the carpet, additionally the management are exceptionally sexist blaming productivity issues on the female reproductive system (when the truth is, the productivity issues are due to a failing IT infrastructure and incompetent micromanaging), management will also scrutinize staff who are leaving to find anything they can to hold against you, (and they have a blatant misuse of the Bradford Scoring system - your score can only go up, never down) recounting everything you've done, unacceptable response times for DSE assessment requests (4 months and waiting), and the HR department might as well not exist.

Pros

Decent starter salary for a new graduate

Cons

Very unprofessional at every level. Treats their staff like school children and staff are treated with disrespect. Poor organisation. Lack of progression. Does not listen to feedback. Blatant sexist and discriminatory remarks made at ‘professional’ meetings. Managers compare staff openly and when people have handed in their notices they face criticism, snide remarks and hostility instead of being asked for feedback, as the manager has no clue how to do his job. HR also doesn’t care about their staff or basic HR legislation. Lack of support. It is tempting to start here as as a graduate to try to get ahead in a GIS career but This is completing land referencing on land referencing software. Not the GIS software and analysis a graduate may expect. Therefore be prepared for this. In this company you’re just a number. Any faults will be made evident to you personally. Any successes mostly will not be noticed. Most of the staff in this company are miserable and a good few have ended up crying from how management has handled situations. Overall terrible work environment.

It's just work, work, work. No fun, learning or support.

Pros

Struggling to think of anything unfortunately.

Cons

It's just work, work, work (the minimum standard work week is 40 hours!). No fun, learning or support. Obviously work is work, but does it have to be a painfest?! Unfortunately as with many other reviews I feel I'm being pushed to work long hours for relatively poor salary and there's no job satisfaction at the end of the day. There's no support or training, not would there be any time for any even if the company chose to offer some. The push to get stuff out the door is relentless and given resourcing levels it's demanding to uncomfortable levels. It'd be fine if this was occasional but it's every day without pause. When you express views on the above, it falls on deaf ears and there's no sympathy or support, nor any sign of change or even a desire to consider the people side of the work equation.
