Pros

The students were amazing and pay was okay

Cons

The management team is toxic and didn’t feel like I was treated as family. My hours were cut for no reason and out of the blue. Every little thing was scrutinized by the directors. I had a student cancel a session at the last minute and the executive director hounded me before knowing any details. Threats were thrown by him and he was saying I would be let go if it happened again. Most of the employees are contractors, so unfortunately the hours aren’t always consistent. Another absurdity is the CEO of the company quoted The Onion (a digital media company that publishes satirized articles) about the pros/cons of standardized testing in his weekly emails. Yes, he was serious. Kind of hard to believe the credibility of him and the company after that.

Pros

As both a teacher and a director, I have seen countless test prep programs over the years—but none compare to Test Prep Gurus. Their approach goes far beyond teaching test-taking tricks. They instill confidence, resilience, and a genuine love for learning in their students. I’ve witnessed students who once dreaded standardized tests walk into the SAT or ACT with calm focus and walk out with scores that opened doors to colleges they never thought possible. What stands out most is how much the tutors care. They meet students where they are, adapt to individual needs, and provide consistent encouragement that makes all the difference. The growth my students have experienced through Test Prep Gurus has been life-changing—not just in scores, but in mindset and motivation. I wholeheartedly recommend them to any family or school looking to give their students the best chance at success.

Cons

High Demand: Tutors book up quickly, so scheduling flexibility can sometimes be limited. Challenging Workload: Students are pushed outside their comfort zone—great for growth, but requires commitment. Premium Investment: The program isn’t the cheapest option, but the results and personal attention justify the cost. Not One-Size-Fits-All: Works best for students who are ready to engage and put in consistent effort.
