Pros

You get training and pay at the same time, you just have to be careful not to stay very long on the job.

Cons

Corruption, corruption, corruption, did I say corruption. You will not be self employed as an agent you will either die or be fired. If you try to retire they will fire you. They hope you will violate the non-compete so they can go after you. The do not want to pay after you leave

Pros

company vehicle and 401k

Cons

over 40 employees have left the company in the past year- management treats their employees poorly and dont do anything so can see why management would give their job high approval. unreasonable workload. most experienced employees have left and run off from the company because they just dont care. Dierschke doesnt care because he is only concerned for the farmers and obviously clueless to the abuse going on withen the company causing many experienced employees to leave.

Pros

Good pay and Benefits for a single person. Company vehicle, expense account, all bills paid for travel, company paid equipment and training. Hard to get fired. High pay for small towns. Extensive Travel in Texas

Cons

If you are married, have children, or responsibilities at home this job is not for you unless you are ok with working long hours or ok being away from home for long periods of time. This job WILL be your life and a normal personal life is unfeasible if you are doing the job correctly. In order to meet company expectations 10-12 hour days are needed, working on weekends are mandatory at times, and alternating working away from home for 2 weeks straight are mandatory with no choice in the matter. This is a highly stressful job with high anxiety issues. Many employees are on anxiety meds and medical staff close to the company headquarters are aware of the stressful work environment. If you cant handle a fast pace work environment, stress at work, and cant handle anxiety this job is not for you. You will be working long hours to comply with company claim file standards on your files and when a storm hits you will be working away from home for long periods of time which is mandatory. Though you will work a local area, during a large storm you will be required to travel to that area during 2 week stints which is mandatory multiple times. This is not a normal job with normal work hours, you may be fed a line that differs before you are hired, but when you begin to work there the reality will say other wise. The Insurance company is run by a husband and wife with their kids put into high managerial roles over more qualified internal candidates. Harassment in the home office management was overlooked and only dealt with due to the Dept of Labor was contacted by a former employee that was harassed. Advancement is hard unless you are in the good ol boy network and friends with upper management. Top management is aware of the workload issues but will not hire additional staff as it effects the bottomline. Managers do not retire until they are retirement age. The company work load under the current claim file standards is unrealistic to be completed in standard working hours. Before agreeing to work at Texas Farm Bureau Insurance be sure you can handle stress, anxiety, long work hours, extensive travel, and being away from home a-lot for 2 weeks at a time multiple times and ol with working multiple weekends. Visit with current employees in the position you want on their personal time to get a feel for how the job is.
