Pros

Working within distance of Christchurch and the New Forest

Cons

Very high turnover of staff and a worrying absence of any retention strategy Low morale that has little sympathy with the senior management Autocratic and unaccountable leadership and management Failure of management to engage effectively with staff to determine business failings An often demoralising working atmosphere that made it untenable for many employees to continue working there No interest in staff personal development or training Poor top down communication across the company

Pros

I guess if you are based in Christchurch, Lymington or the New Forest it might be considered a pro. Decent amenities in Christchurch.

Cons

I read the other reviews here, including the 2 or 3 that have since disappeared, no doubt urged by a terrified Anvil. Thought i'd add my experience anyway for what's its worth. I have to agree, the other reviews are spot on. Anvil is an awful company to work for with the worst senior management I have ever seen or experienced. The company strategy seems to be based on, as someone else has mentioned, smoke and mirrors. All I witnessed and experienced was poor treatment of employees by dreadful senior leaders and just a general air of dishonesty. You can't get a straight answer from the top, they weren't interested. It would probably be better to look for other businesses in the region that respect their employees and work on values like integrity, honesty and looking after their people as you won't get that at Anvil. I found work quickly afterwards and couldn't believe I had put up with it for so long. Personally I found the whole experience draining. Some good people worked there, lots of people left for a number of negative reasons, a number of people carted off conveniently weeks before their 2 year point. I'd say if you aren't put off, look at the job description hold them to it, as recruiters seem to paint a rosey picture of the job. There seems to be a disparity between what you sign up for and your actual job. Anvil have great potential, if you removed the current ownership and senior leadership, they seem to be the ones holding the company back. Glad to see the back of the place.

Pros

Your guess would be better than mine. I’m struggling here.

Cons

What really sums up a bad company is when they instruct their staff to write positive reviews on glass door in an effort to up the ratings because they are not happy with the honest and consistent reviews made by current or ex employees. If you don’t believe me, you only have to read the recent and clearly fabricated ‘positive’ reviews that have appeared over a short period to see how they differ to other ‘real’ reviews. I think this really says something about the senior mgt team (if you can can call them managers! They certainly aren’t leaders!). I think it’s fair to say that most ‘normal’ mgt teams would be concerned about the reviews and look at ways to improve and overcome these challenges which will ultimately lead to a more successful and productive enterprise. Instead, they choose to ignore the comments and bully employees to write fabricated reviews. This not only undermines glass door but more importantly potentially provides a false impression of the company to would be job applicants or clients who may be conducting due diligence on The Anvil Group. To me, it also demonstrates dishonesty, arrogance, ignorance, lack of intelligence and most importantly, clear lack of any leadership or management.
