Pros

- Employees are committed to the mission to improve educational outcomes for students in the public school system - Management is intentional about building a diverse organization and strong culture - Great employees who are high performing, smart and well intentioned - Well funded by Broad Foundation - Beautiful office space, free snacks, great location in Century City

Cons

- Executive Director lives out of state and loses sight of what is happening with sr management team and subordinates - Limited opportunity for advancement - Little development opportunities for non-managers - Certain managers are allowed to go rogue due to the lack of oversight - Not all feedback from employees is welcome or well received by management - Lots of meetings can cause fatigue and decrease productivity - Formal corporate culture

Pros

Everyone has great intentions. Great connections to education power players and organization is liberal. Staff take deliberate steps to hire a "diverse organization." Beautiful office.

Cons

Group think is really prevalent across the org and counters the core values talked about frequently. Happiness and job satisfaction across the org is very low. It's very difficult to advance, especially with certain managers, teams and with a two year minimum for some roles between promotions. While TBC hires "diverse," the "diverse" typically have the highest turnover.

Pros

-Really smart, talented and dedicated people up-and-down the org chart -"Practice what we preach". As an org that runs leadership development programs, lots of learning opportunities, PD, exposure to thought leaders, etc. Managers really focus on your personal/professional growth. -Coming from the nonprofit world, I think compensation is competitive

Cons

-Impact on students and schools is a few steps removed. If you're looking to work directly with kids, teachers, principals, etc., doesn't happen here as much you'd like -A little inflexibility on some things can be frustrating, namely vacation policy, work from home days, dress code
