We have been in business for 30 years and we have always adhered to all provincial and federal legislation. Over the past few years, as the gig economy becomes more and more a part of our lives, we are changing and evolving our procedures and operations to continue to comply with all government guidelines. Our contracts and business practices have always been vetted through the proper channels and will continue to do so. We are certainly not perfect and always willing to adapt. It's unfortunate that after 8 years of working with us that you have this impression and certainly would have welcomed the conversation. It's a trying time in hospitality - all the best in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. I am sorry that you have this impression of our company, We have been in business for 30 years and over the years have followed the protocols and guidelines set by both the federal and provincial government regarding independent contractors. That being said, we are always open to hearing about our leadership and how we can improve. We want to continue to be the type of company that collaborates with our clients and contractors in a productive and positive way. Wishing you continued health during this very uncertain time.

Pros

The only good thing is its flexibility - you get to accept or decline shifts via email. Also, you get to go to different venues.

Cons

You are an "independent contractor", which is essentially a way to skirt all labour laws. This means there are no breaks, no overtime pay, etc. It also means there are no EI, CPP or vacation pay contributions. So the $14 per hour is really the equivalent of minimum wage. You do NOT get tips, training is unpaid and you have to buy an expensive uniform in order to start. You also sign a non- competition agreement, which makes sense since you'll be making less than anyone you work with from a different company.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you did not have a great experience with us. Our apologies for not responding sooner as we are just getting more focused on this platforms. Much has changed since you were a butler with us and we continue to improve each year.
