Pros

Standard cafe manager position Full autonomy of your store (depending on your franchisee)

Cons

Most stores are rife with cliques and tenured staff that make it almost impossible to make necessary changes as an outsider (not a previous TCC employee) Online training is compulsory and unpaid due to not being allowed to allocate working hours for staff to complete Bullying and harassment starts with and is ignored by, the franchisees Friends and family are favoured over more experienced staff No work/life balance PTO is ignored and you are still contacted by franchisees and staff Your mental and physical health issues are ignored

Pros

I always got long shifts, so I did receive a fair wage (IF I HAD BEEN PAID FOR ALL MY SHIFTS!)

Cons

Terrible management. I got my job at the coffee club when I was only fourteen and the senior managers and other staff abused this. Never got enough notice for my shifts - I would be called the day before for a 6am start, and I never knew when I would finish. I was verbally abused by the chef constantly, he had no sympathy for the fact that I was only fourteen and would be run off my feet all the time. I was never properly trained! This was my second job, my first hospitality job and I had never used an industrial diswasher, poured alcohol or made cold drinks ect. When I made mistakes, I would be chastised or ridiculed by other staff and even the MOD. There were multiple occasions where I was not given my mandatory 30 minute break. I worked 8-9 hour shifts, we were so busy, and I am a great worker, which led to management neglecting me any breaks - even bathroom breaks. Oh yeah, also I wasn't paid for the total of my shifts I worked. I worked at coffee club for 2 months, never receiving a single paycheck, doing countless, break-less 8 hour shifts, even working 9 hours on NEW YEARS DAY on $13 an hour, and I eventually only received $217 (after I had quit, I was given this in cash) I was so shaken and afraid of ever going back there that I couldn't be bothered to fight this pathetic pay.

Pros

* Free lunch * Learnt a lot of skills & provided great training

Cons

Everyone's pay started at $12/p hr cash, doesn't matter what age you are. No super, no worker's compensation, no contract, no overtime pay, no weekend rates. Found out later that I'm not even registered as a worker under their store so they can get away with paying people less than minimum. Always got yelled at for little things. High expectations with very little pay. Unhygienic and only does what is convenient for them and does not care about customers' health and wellbeing.
