The Foundation has a lot to work on

Pros

• Good benefits-large HSA contribution, high time-off accrual rate, child care assistance, the ability to roll over unused PTO, etc. • Several opportunities to connect with the Denver Metro community • A commitment to racial equity

Cons

• Poor culture-a critical environment that lacks transparency • Cost of living raises are offered annually, but there are few opportunities for performance-based raises • No consistency in many areas: who gets to work from home, who gets to flex their time, which departments get additional days off, how promotions occur, how staff is managed, etc. • The Foundation is lacking in processes and protocols • Leadership is often lacking-leaders turn a blind eye to issues they could (and should) address, which contributes to the current culture • Arrogance and self-importance displayed by seasoned staff members • Four CEOs in five years

Loved my time here!

Pros

It's great place to gain a holistic understanding of the many challenges Metro Denver is facing (population boom, gentrification, homelessness, racial equity and inclusion). The donors, grantees and volunteers are wonderful, and their stories are so compelling. There are so many opportunities to get connected to the work whether you are in programs, donor relations, or administrative staff. Each person that works at the Foundation has a strong passion for social justice. You learn so much working here!

Cons

Decision making can be slow The work is so varied (and important) you often feel like you're pulled in several different directions at once.

Poor leadership on many levels

Pros

The Denver Foundation is a community foundation and truly is part of the community. It is hard not to feel like you are making a difference by working there.

Cons

Uninspired leadership. Employees don't feel valued. They are often dealing with crises the organization has inflicted upon itself.
