Pros
I worked at Ginger many years ago, and it was my very first real design job outside of school. Andrew really took a chance on me, and I will forever be grateful to him and the team at Ginger for taking me under their wing and teaching me everything I know. I’ve always kept in touch with Andrew so he could see how far I’ve come in my career because I owe so much of my success to him. I loved the variety of work I got to do there and it really set the foundation for my whole career.
Cons
The only reason I moved on is because I decided to make the move to Toronto to experience life. If Ginger had an office here, I may even still be working there!
Pros
The culture, team, and meaningful work have made Ginger a truly rewarding place for me to work. Firstly, Ginger’s portfolio of clients and partners is exceptional. We work with some of the most thoughtful, strategic, and forward-thinking organizations in the province and beyond, and it makes every day interesting, challenging, and meaningful. Days are busy, but the work is engaging and varied. The team is another major strength. Ginger has some super-skilled marketers, communicators and amazingly talented designers, and there is a genuine sense of shared success across the team. People support one another, step in when needed, and work toward common goals. It’s a collaborative environment that makes a real difference day to day. The Fredericton office is bright, airy, and a productive place to work.
Cons
The agency uses pretty robust operational platforms that take some learning, but once you understand them, they help provide clear workflows and efficient project management.
Pros
This review reflects not just my experience, but also sentiments shared by several current and former colleagues. - The agency does manage to attract some well-known and reputable clients. - Exposure to a variety of projects can be good for someone early in their career looking to build a portfolio quickly. - Great coffee machine - New office space is just amazing to work in - Friendly staff - Good team bonding activities - Fair compensation
Cons
This review reflects not just my experience, but also sentiments shared by several current and former colleagues. - There is little to no organizational hierarchy or role clarity. Subject matter expertise is often ignored, leading to inefficiencies and poor-quality output. The company claims to be a leader, but operates like a startup with no agility or innovation usually associated with one. - Leadership is unapproachable and disconnected. Despite running a small agency, they behave as though they are at the helm of a global firm, creating an atmosphere of distance and pretension. - The internal project management system is a mess. Documents are scattered, processes are unclear, and the lack of structure leads to duplicated efforts and missed deadlines. - One of the Co-CEO is driven more by ego than collaboration, making it difficult to express opinions or raise concerns. Constructive feedback is often dismissed or discouraged. - Employee attrition is alarmingly high. Talented people regularly leave due to frustration, which only worsens the instability and stress for those who remain. - The employment contract is unusually restrictive—6 months probation, a 30-day notice period, and a non-compete clause barring you from joining any other agency in New Brunswick. This is unnecessarily limiting and signals a lack of trust in employees. - The office has an open layout, but employees are discouraged from talking or collaborating at their desks. Instead, they are forced to use meeting rooms for even minor discussions. If open communication isn’t allowed in an open workspace, it defeats the purpose—cubicles would make more sense.
