Pros

A high demand for the services that The Glam App offers, however, there are several competitors who are doing it right and are leading the industry. The remarkable ineptitude displayed by this management (2 Co CEOs) is severely detrimental to the company's success.

Cons

Too many to count! Operated by two individuals who lack the qualifications and business sense of how to run a company, let alone managing a small team. If you have any prior work experience, you will notice right away that they are improvising their roles as CEOs. It's like a child that tells their parents they don't need any help. When it comes to doing it, they don't actually have any idea, but because of their egotistical pride, they refuse to ask for a lifeline and end up making mistake after mistake until it's too late to salvage. If that were their only faults, I honestly wouldn't be leaving a review. However, they are shockingly disrespectful and incredibly demeaning to their employees. Expect to be running the entirety of the business while the bosses sit in their office discussing what they will be ordering for lunch, what music to play next and playing with their dogs. Yet, they will keep telling you how much they worked, even though they are 9-5 and you work 10-12 hours (with no overtime) and no time for lunch. Along with all of your other duties, they will expect you to get them both Starbucks every single day (which is not even in close proximity btw) and if you don't they will call you unkind and disrespectful to your face. They will make you take their own trash out and if you don't they will tell you that taking out their trash is your biggest priority and that it is the "foundation" of the business. This was said to us verbatim. I wish I were kidding. They will expect you to work on your days off without asking if you are available. You literally have no choice or liberty to make any decisions and it’s worse knowing that your direct leader would like to think that she owns your life, even on your days off. You’ll be expected to work until 9pm regularly (not a choice) and to work on your phone while driving! (they don’t consider that to be a safety hazard). Expect to be berated about your “energy.” If the bosses feel a little off or moody, they may blame it on your bad energy. They are 30 something year olds on a power trip and very insecure. To assert power over you they will make you feel like you are the dirt that is sitting atop the unclean surfaces in The Glam App office.

Pros

Great group of girls to work with. Talented and experienced and most of them were so helpful throughout a treacherous training period with management and a senior employee. The stylists as well working for the app are very talented. The app itself has a lot of potential, I just think management is perhaps holding them back.

Cons

Not sure where to begin. Since I was only there a short while, the training period itself consisted of the senior employee (who I would ultimately be managing) training me on the "how to's" of an extremely outdated and inefficient system. I am not sure how effective degrading your trainee is but apparently that's how they think training should be done. Coming from another app, I was shocked at how this company continued to work productively with this system! It's blatantly ineffective and management didn't seem to care. All they cared about which was not mentioned to me in my interview was someone to "manage the girls". All of the team which was only made up of 4 women, who were clearly self reliant since management does not help. Again I will say I was trained by my employee and not by my direct manager. Furthermore, one of the major reasons for my departure was the "transparency" they stated they gave me was ultimately an untruth. This position was to alleviate the CEOs from actually manning their team and they expected me to be available 24/7. On my day off, I had to leave a lunch with family to assist "my team". They expect one person to run the business alone on the busiest day of the business yet want their manager to be available to them. Business sense is something they are lacking and I do believe that to be their downfall.

Pros

The only pro is the actual idea and concept for the app. The concept and company were well due and needed in the industry which sadly was ruined by unnecessary high school drama from 30 year olds in a business setting. Just because you have a good idea doesn’t mean you should run the business and also make sure you look into the credentials of those you are hiring for higher level positions like COO. You You aren’t qualified to run a business just from watching The Devil Wears Prada.

Cons

Narcissistic and demeaning management, unattainable and not even explained expectations, verbal abuse to yourself and coworkers and even just every day people like Postmates or Vendors, the work hours, expect to work 10-12 hour days without overtime. They expect you to work even while driving, and you will be reprimanded by not handling something to the second. No Holiday time (1 get one vacation day for every 3 months, so 4 vacation days a year AFTER you've worked a year), no health benefits. So what do you get...absolutely nothing but the life and energy sucked out of you on a daily basis. Because you work on your days off as well, and be told how you should feel lucky to get a day....no reprieve whatsoever. The fact that that their turnover rate high, with employment timeframe of no more than 3-4 months says it all. That says a lot about this company, its culture, standards, and management.
