Pros

The Healthy Teen Project (HTP) includes a kind, compassionate, skillful group of people who take care of one another. The therapist role, like all the clinical roles there, entails a group effort that is strongly based on multi-disciplinarian collaboration and trust in each clinician's unique skills. The role includes a vast amount of exposure to a variety of mental health conditions where there is so much space to hone expertise and learn new skills in a supportive, supervised community. The exec team, spearheaded by owner and co-founder Katie Bell, are both your exec team and on the front lines of treatment with you. All voices are listened to and perspectives considered, while the experienced staff hold the foundation and guide the team. The staff are treated very well--with celebrations for important life moments, weekly positive feedback in meetings, transparency throughout the company, strong health benefits and salary. This is an excellent job for a therapist looking to work in community with other clinicians and gain advanced experience in eating disorder treatment.

Cons

The client population-teens with eating disorders--can be tough as the treatment often includes feeling more distress before feeling better. This can mean that things get harder first. As a therapist, it can be tough to hold onto the big picture goals and not get fatigued from the short-term experiences. This is manageable through the team support, but it's important to check-in often and get supervision. Due to the level of care and need of the clients, the program hours/schedule change very little. This is great for having a consistent Monday-Friday job, while also can be a little draining to work 10-6pm long term. The team works very hard at making sure people get time off when requested. Sometimes it's a little tight around the holidays, due to the nature of the work, but the team works around it as best as possible to assure the staff get holidays breaks.
